4.0a Beta 4 Release Notes
Logos 4.0a Beta 4 (v4.0.1.3.4141) will be released shortly.
Known Issues
- Opening a LSF/LIX resource will crash the application.
- There may still be bugs in index merging that cause a crash when searching the library by rank.
Bug Fixes
- Copying multiple verses on systems with certain user-customized styles no longer crashes the app.
- Ctrl+F filtering in media resources searches visible text, credits, copyrights, title, and description.
- Fixed ArgumentOutOfRangeException crash when generating Search Analysis.
- Fixed bug causing Words of Christ color to override highlighting.
- Fixed bug preventing [field words-of-christ] from working.
- Fixed bug that was preventing Hebrew untransliteration with some punctuation to work.
- Fixed bug that where “Export...” was not available in morph search for analysis.
- Fixed crash when closing a Guide before it had finished running.
- Fixed crash in Cited By when sorting results by book.
- Fixed crash running a Bible Word Study on “θεός”.
- Fixed crash when switching between stereoscopic and non-stereoscopic images.
- Fixed main window not being restored to full screen from taskbar.
- Greek lemma untransliteration now supports smooth/rough breaking marks (via square brackets).
- h:elohim now suggests אלהים when untransliterating.
- Improved prefix searching performance.
- Morph Search now remembers its last results view.
- Page numbers no longer appear in the right-click menu (because nothing useful can currently be done with them).
- “rebuild index” now restarts the Indexer from the beginning if it’s already running.
- Using Copy Bible Veses global hotkey now puts the keyboard focus in the reference textbox.
New Features
- Renamed “Datasheet” to “Analysis”
- Changed “reindex now” to “rebuild index”
- Added “merge index” command to force index merging (when possible)
- Added a “Copy” option to the context menu for the reading plan reference range selector. This option is useful for copying a complex reading plan range that was entered before.

Thanks Bradley. Could I ask that you take a look at a really important bug in BHS morph searching? It's not been fixed in all three betas so will be affecting every Logos user.

Page numbers no longer appear in the right-click menu (because nothing useful can currently be done with them).
I don't think so, if I understand what you mean. For example, in the ABD it does not cite the page number in a copy-paste action like other resources and it is not given in the little bar thingy at the top of the page that usually has it in other resources. So, other than right-clicking, I have no other way (that I know of) to know which volume or which page number I'm in.
Having the volume number and page number is one of my pet peeves (and the main reason I can't stand Kindle), so in Logos resources where this doesn't show up, like ABD, as it normally does, having it in the right-click menu is a big plus.

This is not good. I'm getting a crash shortly after loading beta 4.
Logos does a LOT of syncing - updating priorities and collections, then crashes. There's nothing unusual in the logs. The last line is:

It's done it twice now. The first time it crashed two lines above this.

(I should mention that I do get it in the page itself in SR-7 once I select the show page numbers option, but still not in the bar and still not in the footnote (most important).)

Syncing took almost 5 minutes on my machine, but never crashed. Everything looks good so far.

Mine hung on install.. right at the beginning - unexpected error in Windows 7. I was unable to re-run the installer.
It's now installing again.... Here's hoping...

On the fourth time of asking Logos4 loaded and synced OK. Then a few minutes later it crashed again, this time leaving an error in the log.

Installed without a problem! One small request for the next release... Could we please have the Library keep the title column open and not have it close whenever we leave the program... Not a major issue but an easy fix that will be very convenient in not have to open the column each time we go into the program to see our resources...

At end of install I got an error because I run the program as an administrator:

Logos hasn't crashed on my for a while now, so I assume it's calmed down. Bradley, if your're interested I have Logos4 logs, Windows crash logs, and I've also kept a copy of the sync XML file that was being processed during the crash. Let me know if you want any of them.

On a related note, would it be possible to permanently keep a post with the latest beta link at the top of the PC beta forum? If it is already there and I'm overlooking, I'll ask your forgiveness ahead of time. [:)]

The beta link never changes, it's always http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/InstallerBeta/Logos4Setup.exe
If you're already running a beta, just type "update now" in the command box.

B4 installed ok. Crashed at first trying to synchronize, but after a restart, it continued through the process.
I was doing a Bible search and examining the hits in "Analysis" view when I experienced another crash. I believe it occurred when I dragged the second column to the top. Files attached.

Unfortunately, I don't see a crash recorded in the log files. We'll analyse it later (if you submitted the crash to Microsoft) but I can't give you an answer right now because I don't have any information to go on.

I had a couple of crashes shortly after updating, I don't think there was any particular rhyme nor reason to it; but now running fine... I've taken to leaving the logging running while doing beta updates so that I catch the crashes...

John, the difference between Damian's and your visual filters is that it appears you have highlighted something in ABD while he has not, so no highlighting visual filter shows up in his screenshot.

Prior to updating the beta 4, I was reading John Maxwell's "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" on a scheduled reading program. After the update, I received the message that this book was not a part of my library and to contact Logos.com. I searched my library for Maxwell's resources and have four listed: (1) "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership", (2) "The 21 Most Powerfult Minutes in a Leader's Day, (3) John Maxwell on Attitude Overview Guide, and (4) John Maxwell on Leadership Overview Guide.
None of these resources ever had their own book icons but instead had Logos' red universal book icon. These were Nelson resources that probably have never bee updated.
I am curious why they would be unavailable now.

These are probably LSF books, which can't be opened in Beta 4 (see the Known Issues: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/6806/52817.aspx#52817)
