Bug: Importing Sermon Files
I have 2 simple sermon files in Libronix. When imported they were associated with one Sermon PB but one Illustration PB was also created (with no files).
I changed the Title and other details of the sermon PB, made changes to the docx files and created copies in the same folder via Copy/Paste (named "xxxxx - Copy")
When I re-Imported:-
- the sermon docx files were replaced and the backup files were removed!
- I had a new "Sermons of ..." PB with the original title!
In other words, I have sermon docx files that reflect the Libronix originals and I lost copies of files with the changes I had made.

Hi, Dave,
Could you please send those sermon files to LogosFeedback@logos.com? If you could reference the forum title in the subject field also, that would be great.
Thanks!

I reproduced this in beta 4 i.e. the Import first wipes the contents of the folder. This needs to be addressed.

I am able to reproduce the issue of a Sermon and/or Illustrations PB stub being created even though no files of the associated type were imported. I will report this to Development.

As discussed here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/68101.aspx this is by design since the Title of the original PB had been changed.

Development has decided that this behavior is by design. Importing sermon files is not intended to be ran on a regular basis. It is a single use migration tool.

Not the answer I was seeking either
Dave, this may or may not be some help, http://community.logos.com/forums/t/56291.aspx it compiles all the Sermon Files/Illustrations into a text file which can loaded into word, and a macro puts the formatting right before compiling as a PBIf you use OO then the text file should still load in, but dont know how macros work in OO, you would need to work that out yourself
I am in process of a rewrite of it (when time allows)

What you mean is that there is no safeguard against accidentally, or UNKNOWINGLY, violating this intended behaviour and ruining what might have been a considerable amount of work. I think it is bad design by any standard and that Logos needs to show some appreciation for its users.

WHERE has this EVER been said? [warnings given to us, etc...]
Does this also apply to all of the "other" "import" commands from Libronix 3?
Just asking...because (not always remembering which/what was recently coded for inclusion from L3 to L5) I know I have run "import all" as an attempt not to miss any of these other newly made compatible/upgrades etc.

This behavior has been changed.
Existing files in the "Imported LDLS3 Sermons" will not be deleted when "import sermon files" is run again.
The "import sermon files" command will only convert new sermons and illustrations. If an existing sermon or illustration has been updated in LDLS3, you will need to delete the corresponding docx file for it to be regenerated. This new behavior will be in 5.1 Beta 9.

Confirmed fixed in Beta 9.
But an Illustrations entry is still being created as reported above.

The case for this issue is still open.

The issue of a Sermon PB and an Illustration PB always being created, even when files of those types where not available, will be fixed in 5.1 Release Candidate 1.
