I was excited to download my Feasting on the Word lectionary commentary.

But I was disappointed to find that I cannot link it with my lectionary (RCL), which follows the same 3-year (A,B,C) cycle.

They do not share an index type in common. RCL is indexed only by YearMonthDay (2007-2016), while Feasting on the Word is indexed by Page, Bible, and Bibliographic Item. Actually, I'm not sure what a "Bibliographic Item" index is good for. I can't figure out anything acceptable in that data space to try navigating to.

Is there not a universal reference type for liturgical day? I should be able to navigate in both resources to something like "2nd Sunday after Epiphany"; if I could do that in both, they'd be able to link up together.

While we're at it, how come the RCL is limited to 2007-2016? Since it's based on a repeating three-year cycle, I ought to be able to go to any date. But it would really help to be able to navigate to a day of the liturgical year, regardless of what day in the calendar year it falls on.

I've been saying this for how long?

Thanks. I think I was vaguely aware that you'd been saying this, but this is the first time the lack of it has actually stung me in my use of Logos. I've always been able to navigate by liturgical day in the RCL by opening the Table of Contents panel. However this inability to link liturgical year resources together is a really serious limitation.

Another annoying thing, is the lack constancy in the after Pentecost (Propers) Of course the Epistle and Gospel are always the same but the OT/Psalm portion is not always there.. I believe year A and C focused on the typological and year B on the semi-continous (although I may have got them reversed). The Wordsearch (Updated WJKP CDROM) version contains the both tracks/ for all 3 cycles, since they were commissioned just not placed in the printed works due to space. I hope Logos will offer those to you if they are not there...

Has anybody found a helpful way/layout to use Feasting on the Word with the RCL?

Open RCL and the select first reading and do a passage guide and sometimes that will get you opened to the right place to start FOW for that sunday. But since Logos doesn't offer the supplementary texts offered for free in the CDROM edition (powered by a competing software), in the time after Pentecost 2/3 or 1/3 of the time you will have the wrong first reading.

Today's update brought the RCL index to Feasting on the Word!
