Hi

Thank you Logos, after downloading Logos 5.1 for Mac the syriac resources are usable for me, meaning that the font problems are for most part better now.

I am still in a very early stage at my syriac language journey, but I think I know enough to spot an error. I think the development has gone to the right direction, but a person at Logos with mac and syriac knowledge should still play around with several syriac resources, ones that contain pure syriac and ones that are mixed with english.

1st picture on the left the two horizontal diacritical dots that indicate plural are inside the english word.

On the right the horizontal line indicating the silence of the letter nun is alright in the word atton, but is quite high in the word meditta.

There is something wrong with the letter sequence samech and emphatic t. At least I do not recall this kind of ligature. Correct me if I am wrong but I think it is rofl.

I went through quickly some pages of the Syriac Apocalypse and some lines are not totally straight:

In case the samech teth sequence is a font bug, then it seems only to appear at sedra-lexicon, Syriac apocalypse and peshitta when using Serto Jerusalem, not not Payne-Smith, see the comparison on the word 'satan'.

When I change the font to Estrangela Talada Sedra's font problem vanishes, but you can see that the menu on the left still preserves it because it uses another font:

Changing the font to Talada seems to fix some lining problems, same line both in Serto and Estrangela:

    Not even Talada fixes everything:

I have filed bugs for both these issues.

I don't know Syriac, but IE, Firefox and Chrome (on Windows) all render this word (in Serto Jerusalem) the same as Logos, so I suspect this is not an error.

    I will report this problem.

Yeah my mistake,  the samech thet is working as intended. Kiraz lists it as an optional ligature.

I wanted to check Nöldeke's grammar for how the word 'wife' is pronounced. I opened search and typed the word wife ( aleph, nun, taw, taw, aleph). The search is ok but you can see that in the search results on the left in the highlights the script gets broken, however when I open the result on the right the word for wife is spelled perfectly.

This is actually a problem in Mac OS X, which you can see by copying that text and pasting it into TextEdit.

We currently rely on the text layout component of the OS to draw most of our resource text. We have a long-term plan to replace this dependency on Apple with our own code, which should fix this problem.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. It is good to hear that you continue to try to make it work better.

This should be fixed in 5.2a Beta 1.
