BUGS 5.1: Custom series
1) Select some books without series name.
2) Click Set series for all.
3) Paste Old Testament Introduction into the box.
4) Decide that the name is too generic, and that SPCK Old Testament Introduction would be better.
5) Since all that shows in the box is Introduction, start selecting from the right, expecting the text to move so that you can get all the way back to the O.
>> It doesn't happen. To get back to the first letter, you have to click somewhere, and then use the left arrow.
6) Add the SPCK.
7) Remember that you had promised yourself to add a * to the end of custom series, to know that they are custom ones.
8) Experience the same trouble getting back to the last letter.
9) Add the *.
10) Hit Enter.
- Clear is cut off.
- The series name is invisible.
- The assigned area is far too big.
11) Try to get the series name visible by clicking somewhere.
>> It usually succeeds, but I have also several times ended up with all the books in the series being opened, or the series name being deleted again.
12) The bug in 5) also happens with abbreviated titles, and quite possibly with normal ones (haven't tried). I'm fairly sure it used to work as expected.
13) Don't forget to clear the series name and any altered titles when you're finished experimenting.[:D]

Just to flag that this looks like (another) Mac-specific issue.
Surprise...
Thanks for checking.

I can reproduce these two issues on Mac, and I have created cases for Development.

I'm having a hard time reproducing these two. I am able to get all the way back to the O and add a * at the very end. Also, the series name is visible for me. Do you get these two bugs consistently?0 -

More or less, it seems. With a shorter name I once managed to get one word to show up (plus the area is smaller, and more of the Clear user... is visible), but essentially I've gotten the same result every time I've tried.
If I change names within an existing series, I get a slightly different scenario: the two bugs you reproduced are still there (from the start), and so is the selection one, but the old series name is fully visible, while the new, if long, is only partly visible.
If I add a series name to only one resource, the name shows up directly, and only the selection bug remains.
Ah, this was interesting. If I leave Logos with the name invisible, and move over to another Space (to type this), the name is visible when I go back. Switching back and forth to another tab also works.
Possible ideas:
- Did you try on 10.6? (Sorry if I point out something obvious, but I have at times spent hours on bugs, only to find out that the person I've talked to only tried to recreate on 10.8.[:(])
- My default 200% or so font size tends to result in bugs others don't see, but in Library I actually have the font slider one step left of the middle, so I wouldn't think that's the issue this time.
- My Swedish OS with English Logos also doesn't seem a likely culprit, but just in case...
And now I suddenly have all four volumes of A Marginal Jew open, without having a clue how that happened...[:O]

First, I want to apologize for not replying sooner.

I have tested these issues again in 5.1b SR-2 and in 5.2 Beta 1 on Mac (10.6), and I could not reproduce them.
However I did notice a bug when adding a series name to several resources, the text box does not enlarge to show the whole title when typing it. The text box stays the same which makes it difficult to go back and edit your title. On the other hand when editing the series name just for one resource the text box does adjust to the title size and you can see the whole title when typing it out not just a couple words. I will created a case for it for Development, and hopefully it will fix the issue

Also these two issues should be fixed in the next beta that will be released, 5.2 Beta 2.

This will be fixed in 5.2 RC 1.

All of these bugs now seem fixed. However, the first bug, as I originally described it, has now turned up in the PB tool, and in a far worse version than here: BUG: The PB tool can't handle long titles. (Or perhaps it's been there for some time; I haven't built any PB's for quite a while.)
