This looks great, but is there going to be dynamic pricing? For those of us who have many of these sets through CP, it would be a bummer if not...

Yes, it says so on the website.
I guess you have to order over the phone because I own some of the "collections" and the price didn't change.
Blessings!

You must be right. I don't see any discount and I have a bunch of them.

Same here

Me too.
I confirm the same. This is a resource that should include dynamic pricing.
This is a resource that should include dynamic pricing.
It does...you just have to call in to get the "move".
Where's the worm on a hook emoticon??
Dynamic pricing should be enabled now (I'm seeing it on my account).
Chopped off 50% of my price. Where is Santa when you need him? [:D]
Chopped off 90% for me! [:P]
(Boy, am I gonna get this one.)
Thankful for dynamic pricing and community bidding:
Discounted amount is significantly lower than regular prices for 3+ commentary series.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Is there an easy way to find out which of the volumes I don't currently own?
No. The only way I know of is tedious. I did it title by title.
I was hoping this would have been way lower since I do have quite a few volumes. but it's still hefty. Some volumes I'd add for sure. I will look over the other offerings a bit closer and call my rep if I think it's worth adding this one.
It's too difficult. Even if I click the hyperlinks I don't see whether or not I already have the resource. SHort of investing a lot of time in searching for the many included items, I can't see a way of knowing what I'd be getting.
There ought to be a "New to Me" for dynamic pricing, like on Logos 5.
This is a great idea. I have some idea of what I would be getting, but I have zero interest in taking the time to pick it apart piece by piece. A "New to Me" feature would help considerably. That said, I'm rather tapped out at present, even though my total cost is less than $400. Something to consider for the future, though.
I was rather disappointed to see that the price shown for me was $427.49. I had expected it to be much lower, as I already own Logos 4 and 5 Portfolio and every single one of the "Classic Commentaries on…" bundles.
So I rather labouriously searched for every title in Logos, and added up the cost of all the ones where the order button wasn't greyed out (i.e. ones that I didn't currently own). To my great surprise I discovered that buying this collection would add another 190 volumes to my library, and the total cost of buying those volumes individually would have come to $3,003.86. Now you can argue that Logos overprices its public domain works, and that no-one in their right mind would pay $3,000 for those volumes. True. But 190 volumes for $427.49 means that my price comes out at $2.25 per volume, which is cheaper than you often get even on community pricing!
For me, that makes this set terrific value for money. If you're hesitating, I would recommend investing the time in doing the maths - it will only take you an hour or so.
I think this is still broken. I ordered it as I have most (all I thought) the Classic Commentaries, yet it showed a small price. I got a confirmation email, and the order shows up in my Orders page, but no volumes come down via restart of Logos and "Update resources". But - if I go back to the product page, the button still shows as if I have not purchased it, even on refresh.
Beware until this is fixed...I have an email in to Customer Service.
Dynamic pricing is not functioning- I have a ton of these- but still tells me full price.
Opps! it was working- but to rich for me- I'll pass.
My price is reading $293 for the set now that dynamic pricing is working. The only pain is that I have to go through all the sets to see what I don't have. I would echo that the "new to me" feature would really help.

That is the way I look at it. Price per volume. It took me an hour and a half to work through the list and it was time well spent.

which is one of the slightly disheartening things about community pricing... at some point a lot of it is going to end up in some kind of package or bundle, as cheap or cheaper than what you pay on CP. I don't know, I haven't done the math, but I think you would have paid less if you bought all of these commentaries in a bundle now instead of buying them individually on CP.

My price is 1200.00 plus change. I am pretty certain that I have spent less than 500.00 on community pricing.

I have :-).
Although $2.25/volume is as cheap as many CP titles, the Classic Commentaries bundles often came in well below that. Several were less than $1/volume. Most were in the $1 to $2 range. The only ones that were more expensive than $2/volume was Chronicles ($20 for 7 vols = $2.86) and Philippians ($40 for 18 vols = $2.22).
In all, a total of 907 Classic Commentaries titles have been published so far, which at Community Pricing prices would have cost you $1,192, or $1.31/volume. (This includes the Minor Prophets collection, which hasn't yet been published.)
Of course, the Complete Classic Commentaries Bundle contains another 600 commentaries in addition to those released in previous Classic Commentaries set. But as 59% of the commentaries were part of the original CP series, that suggests they're now being valued at $2,065 (59% of $3,499.95). By that maths, CP will have saved you about $873 over buying this bundle.

When do you sleep? [|-)]
Mark this is a lot of work, especially the hyper linking. Thanks a million. Here is $50.00 (play) Logos credit. Go shop. [:)]
When do you sleep?
Mark this is a lot of work, especially the hyper linking.
I just copied and pasted my orders page in Word/Excel, and then used Excel's filtered to get rid of everything that wasn't a classic commentary. All the URLs were already there. No more than 5 minutes work [:)].
I missed a lot of CP offers. The price I'm getting is about $1400. I think what I'll do is run down the cost of what I'd still buy and see what that adds up to. I'd really like a new to you on this one. It's a bit daunting for analysis.
I have :-)
wow.
By that maths, CP will have saved you about $873 over buying this bundle.
that's really helpful, thanks [:)]
I want to mention that the price for this product will be going up to $3,500.00 in the next few weeks. We haven't set a specific date yet on when the price will rise, but it will be going up soon. We wanted to offer a special introductory offer for users who may have missed out on a few of these books while they were on Community Pricing.
Mark is also right that at $2.25, these are comparable to Community Pricing prices. However, most of the books in this particular collection went for around $1 on Community Pricing. So even though this collection is a great deal, Community Pricing prices are better. It's always best to get your bid in early; you'll always get the best deal.
Also, I want to note that this collection contains the Classic Commentaries on the Minor Prophets, which have not yet shipped. When you get this collection, you'll receive the license for the Minor Prophets resources, but the resources themselves will not download until that product ships—likely within the next 2–3 months, but that's still a little tentative.
Do we need to cancel our Pre-Pub order for Minor Prophets after we have purchased the Bundle or will they be canceled automatically?

Will this raise the price of our dynamic pricing quote? Or will it just be reflected in a bigger discount?

After you order the bundle, you will need to cancel your pre-order.

This will raise the price of your dynamic pricing discount. The percentage off will be calculated against a much higher price. Bottom line: the price will go up for everyone soon.
But we got the community pricing for Minor Prophets at £30. If we cancel that, we'll have to repurchase it based on the pre-pub price of $164.48. Granted, we'll get some discount due to dynamic on that but I doubt that it will the price for that item back down to £30.
If you re-bundle before the CP has come through then the dynamic pricing should act as if we have already got the licence for Minor Prophets. Or why not give the option of us paying the £30 now for Minor Prophets and getting a licence ready for when it is released? That way we get an accurate dynamic pricing based on what we actually already have in our libraries or on order.
If you want to wait and take delivery of the Minor Prophets and then upgrade to the Bundle I guess you could do that. Why not just upgrade now? The average price per volume of the bundle is $2.25 (or so) and we are only talking about a 10 volume difference here. I bet your new dynamic pricing will jump a lot more than that.
But we got the community pricing for Minor Prophets at £30. If we cancel that, we'll have to repurchase it based on the pre-pub price of $164.48.
No. You do not re-purchase it. You get it with the bundle.
That's what I mean: I have to cancel the pre-pub and purchase it at a higher price as part of the bundle.
It should really let me keep the price I already locked in of $30.
It may not be a big deal but I'm struggling to see the value of these works at higher than CP prices.
I have "some" of these, but the price is $1,769.95 for me.. yikes.. way too much for this ..
After breaking the code on sets that are included, I've decided I'm not interested in any of the sets that I didn't buy---even though it'd be only $560+ to acquire the remainder.
Thanks for the opportunity, Logos, even if I chose to let this one go by.
I pulled the trigger at a mighty $117 as there is some stuff that I do not have that looks interesting (Godet and Campbell-Morgan) but nothing is downloading yet, there do appear to be some issues with this set.
I talked to someone at Customer Service. He sent me an Excel spreadsheet of what I did not have but it was largely worthless. "Commentary on 1 Corinthians," "Job," Exposition of Psalms" does not help much. He had no way to include an author.
but nothing is downloading yet, there do appear to be some issues with this set.
I just spoke with Customer Service about this issue. They told me there is a backlog in the server right now (due to maintenance last night) and by day's end they should catch up with everyone's downloads. It is not just this resource. Another one I ordered has not downloaded.
Yeah for me the price point might be somewhere in the $300 range, $500 max. Lots of good stuff here, I guess I should have bought these all on CP. $$$ now.
So if independently we have a purchase in for Classic Commentaries on the Minor Prophets for $30, and we order this, should we cancel that order?
FYI I have had order completed for about 12 hours and still no unlock.
Yes, according to Kent here.
Mike, I think you have the lowest I've seen so far. I was under $300 for some good collections currently on my wishlist.
Looks like a ton of great commentaries! This looks way way better than a base package!
I didn't go for any of the classic commentaries, so I'll have to either pass, or do lots of saving for this one. Comes up at more than $2,000!
I am leaving for vacation and will not be able to review the commentaries I already own. So hopefully the price will not go up until August.
i really don't know how would a normal person have the time to read all these with their current library.
watch out compulsive buyers...
Well, after doing the math and reviewing the books this would add to my library I decided to go for it. It turns out that it adds 122 books for $293. I had physical copies of a number of these and there are several authors that I really have grown to appreciate over the years.
Thanks also for the reminder Kent to cancel my $30 order for the minor prophets. I felt a little weird doing this knowing that I could never get this price again but this deal seems to be much better.

I guess I didn't count correctly. I was 139 resources which makes for an even better price per volume.

Indeed. Even compulsive buyers/readers would be put to the test to get through 1500+ volumes in their life.
The main benefit I believe these sorts of offers allow for is to feed your Logos 'database' with a huge amount of reference material to search on when you are looking for information on a specific topic, verse, etc. To leverage it, you will need to be proficient at running searches and focused in your research, otherwise this will just get buried. You will also need to be careful to take into consideration more recent works which have had the benefit of new discoveries in language, archaeology, etc.
The question with benefit has to be weighed with cost. As this bundle consists of public domain material, is it worth it? Each person will need to weigh this up, but if you are on the fence, the CP deals and this current bundle price might tip the scales in the direction that it is useful at the given price point. For me, I am very reluctant to spend more than $2.00 per volume for a public domain book unless it is something really special. With this current offer, the balance of classic commentaries that I don't have is well within this range. However, the total price tag is still a bit of a frog to swallow.
That aside, what we have discussed on these forums before is whether or not there is a market for public domain materials at premium prices. Logos obviously thinks so because they will increase the price of this bundle by another $1,000 at some point in the next few weeks. Looking at some of the individual classic commentary collections that I don't have, you can easily spend $5 - 10 a volume for some books. Assuming once a book is produced and there are no royalties to pay, this could be a real revenue stream for Logos to help pay for the development of the software side of the house (which is free). What will be interesting to see is whether the market will provide the volume. I'm sure the Logos number crunchers have some models built on this.
One thing is for sure (this may feed into the compulsive buyer syndrome), is that unless there is a huge sale or a deep discount in the future, this is probably the cheapest you will see it.
