Special Groups Needed Next Step

To all Special Group Managers:

Thank you for all of your effort but now maybe the time to go to the next step.

When Verbum started it was discussed that no special Verbum Forum was needed as the software was the same as Logos 5 and most posts at that time were on use of the software - Times have changed and it is time to start a Verbum Forum not for the software issues [that will remain in the Logos 5 forum] but for the other related issues like resources. Like all of the other group.

However the other Special Groups: Anglican, Lutheran, Orthodox, Pentecostal / Charismatic, Reformed and Seventh-day Adventist; need to review what the Verbum group has done [Yes, they had a two year head start]

Take a look at http://scripturestudysoftware.com/
[And there are other, not very well advertised, entry points]

What I miss from all the other Special Groups is a Blog

A one to three line entry in a forum post might tell the 'faithful' [Defined as followers] that here comes an interesting resource but a good well written blog entry can explain in some detail why that resource is needed not just by the 'faithful' but also by all others.

What is also needed is that the Special Groups get some recognition on the main Logos login page

Verbum Andrew Jones
Anglican Ben Amundgaard
Lutheran Gabe Martini
Orthodox Gabe Martini
Pentecostal / Charismatic Rich Tatum
Reformed Gabe Martini

Thanks for pointing out the website http://scripturestudysoftware.com/ David. I may have seen this before, but now I am really paying attention. The site is well designed, colourful, and tailored to the needs of the Roman Catholic faith. I noticed that they even have their own phone number.

My guess is that when sufficient resources exist, Logos will make Base packages for all of the other faith groups, and hopefully design a special website for them.

Well done Logos. Now what name should we give the Adventist site? Smile

Both Logos and Verbum mean Word.

Do we continue along those lines or pick something meaningful to the Group? [Not just the Adventist]

If staying with 'word' we could expand to 'study' 'research' 'meditate'   =>  studere investigationi meditábor

[All of my ideas get shot down but sometimes they trigger someone else to come up with something useful]

When you get some free time review their blog - except when they try to emulate the Logos blog in trying to sell us 'stuff' I find it very informative.

[[And often they give very good reasons on why to add a source to our library - even better how to use it!]]

You'll find some tips on especially good posts at If you haven't yet discovered Logos' Catholic blog.... Unfortunately, I don't think I'd write that post today. In my view, the quality of the training posts have gone down, and the pure advertizing has increased. I'm getting more and more disappointed.

I've been having discussions about an SDA blog. Surely this will be a wonderful new dimension of what Logos is offering Seventh-day Adventists. At the moment I'm occupied in getting SDA resources and building base packages.

How do we cheer you up?  We are thankful for your recommendations on resources. [can not buy them all but many]

In my opinion the worst thing about that Blog is that it is hidden,  Will the other groups become hidden also?

Thank you for your suggestions, David!

Much of what you suggested is either in the works or has already been done for the special groups. Some things still are having groundwork laid and we are busy collecting content and building base packages before pulling triggers on other aspects you mentioned. (For example, the Pentecostal/Charismatic blog has not been created because I’m still in the early stages of acquiring content, defining a base package and building an audience — but we do plan for a blog eventually).

Thank you for your enthusiasm and for taking the time to help confirm we’re on the right track.

 To all Special Group Managers:

Thank you for your replies both here and the emails.  It is nice doing business with a company where the managers are accessible.

Looking forward to learning about all of the groups from the new Blogs.

And to Andrew Jones: So what new things are you planing to stay ahead of the 'new kids'

David,

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. We will certainly take all of this to heart, especially since it was so thoughtfully and kindly worded.

We do have some new "landing pages" in the works for the various denominations/traditions we're focusing on, so be on the lookout for those. They will help segregate some of our different product offerings and focus in the future, so people from each background will have a "go-to place" when they arrive on Logos.com.

Don't hesitate to reach out again! Smile

In peace,
Gabe
