Indexing Never Completes After 5.1a upgrade

On my desktop with Windows 8. every time I open Logos 5 now after the upgrade, there is a status bar that says "Your library is indexing. Search results from some resources may not be available. Indexing may slow down your computer (Pause indexing for 4 hours).

When I minimize this status notification, the circular exclamation mark changes from gray to yellow and indicates the program will continue to index. I have waited several hours to several days with various restarts and this yellow status icon never states that I move past 0%.

On my laptop with Windows 8 the indexing works fine.

Should I just perform a reinstall?

First I'd like you to enable detailed logging, then reboot the computer. If it continues to index then upload (as per the wiki) the Logos Log Files folder after waiting 1 hour.

Thanks. I've enabled logging and restarted. It is still failing to index so I'll forward the logs after an hour.

There's a number of "interesting" messages in the logs, which indicate problems with your main indexes.

I'd like you to delete the BibleIndex and LibraryIndex folders at E:\Logos 4\Logos4\Data\e2br2ffd.agc (whilst Logos & LogosIndexer are not running), ensure logging is still enabled and then start Logos. Upload logs if it still crashes or is not indexing.

Hello Dave,

After deleting that file and 14GB of downloads and subsequent indexing, I have what appears to be a fully working program. It seems however that my Personal Books didn't make the transition and will need to be rebuilt.

Erik, can you clarify which "file" you deleted as it appears you deleted far more than the two folders I named in \Data?

If you deleted resources (in the \Data folder) you would also lose personal books.

Hi Dave, I only deleted the file you instructed me to remove. Let me clarify that when I go to the book builder my personal book information still appears to be there. However, they are not showing as part of my library as "built" books. I simply need to go back into each one and hit build to return them to my library.

I have been having the same issue since updating and I'm on a mac. What's strange is that indexing acually stops shortly after Logos starts (the small logos icon at the top right of the menu disapears from the screen) yet the status notice remains and tells me that indexing will take 4 hours.

Dave, there was one file in the directory you indicated at E:\Logos 4\Logos4\Data\e2br2ffd.agc

There were no subfolders.

EDIT: Whoops...looks like I deleted the entire folder e2br2ffd.agc. Everything seems to be working fine regardless. I've managed to rebuild my personal books...there were only 5-6 of them anyway.

Thanks for confirming that - I will rephrase future requests to avoid the confusion. Re-downloading resources might have been necessary because of the dependencies between databases i.e. if deleting the 2 index folders showed another (core) database to be corrupt.
