We spend the vast majority of our development time (bug fixes, performance improvements, and new feature construction) on Logos 5. As a result, L5 is our fastest, most stable, and most powerful study software ever.

If you're still using version 4 or earlier, you don't have to miss out! Today, I posted a quick explanation of how to get the newest/best version of Logos.

I'd encourage all of you to download the Logos 5 engine for free.

Tried to upload from the link. I get to a certain point in the installation and receive the following errors:

logos4/system/logos.device services.client.dll and the same error re: customer (I think).dll. The point is that these 2 files are preventing installation of the new engine.

I have run Logos as an Administrator so that can't be the problem.

Thanks.

Logos 5 is great, except for those still running Windows XP....

Is there anything I -will not- be able to do if I update to the Logos 5 engine that I can do in Logos 4? What I ultimately want to know is if this is a strangled version of Logos. Strangled example: Yes, you can still view your entire, current Logos 4 library... but you can't sort it because you didn't upgrade to/purchase a Logos 5 package. That sort of thing. I can't afford to upgrade to an equivalent Logos 5 package, but I don't want to be stuck in 4 and no longer be supported.

Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade that shows Logos 4 Study Document is the only item not in Logos 5.

Caveat: my Logos 4 library does not have any Study Documents.

Thankful for Logos 5 software being free => https://www.logos.com/installation

No; all the features of Logos 4 are in Logos 5 (KS4J's comments about Study Documents--which were never a Logos 4 feature--notwithstanding). Some of the menu items have been rearranged, so features may be in a different place, but they are all still there.

The only features inaccessible in Logos 5 will be those that require a Logos 5 base package or crossgrade (e.g., Timeline, Bible Sense Lexicon, Clause Search, etc.).

It's a shame it does work on Windows XP since there are still millions of XP users. (Especially those of us running Linux with XP in VirtualBox and have no need to pay to upgrade to something we only use for a few programs.)

Oh well, thanks anyway.

I meant "It's a shame it doesn't work on Windows XP ..." I couldn't edit it as I keep getting an error from the forum software.

"It's a shame it doesn't work on Windows XP ..."

Thread => Advance Notice: Logos Ending Windows XP Support October 26, 2012 includes:

Bob Pritchett:

Logos 4 depends on a number of Microsoft platform components, including the .NET framework. With the October 26, 2012 release of Windows 8, Microsoft is upgrading the .NET 4 platform to .NET 4.5, which is an "in-place" install replacing .NET 4 (which we're planning to move to for many reasons, including performance and bug fixes).

.NET 4.5 will run on Windows Vista SP2 and later version of Windows, but specifically NOT Windows XP.

October 26, 2012 is the release date for Windows 8; at that point it will be 11 years since Windows XP was released (Oct 25, 2001), and it will be three full generations (Vista, 7, 8) out of date.

Microsoft's decision to not support .NET Framework 4.5 on Windows XP prevents Logos 5 installation on Windows XP.

By the way, .NET Framework 4.0 has some issues that limits Logos 4 to .NET Framework 3.5

Wiki => http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Release_Notes shows Logos 4.6b and 4.6c were released after 26 Oct 2012.

Hi Ray (or anyone any who may have an idea),

This question may be off, but I have no place to ask and I don't know how to start a conversation. Any idea how could I add my these old Libronix CD but still has unused activation code? It is a CD of Theological Journal Library vols. 1-5.  I updated to Logos 5 engine more than a year ago, but I don't know how to add these super valuable Theological Journals. Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Tito, this is a very old and unrelated thread. Please start a new one. I know you said you didn't know how, so I'll explain it. There's a link on the main Logos forums page at the top of the "Recent Topics" section that says "Write a New Post" -- click there, and it will start a new post, new thread.:

P.S. If you're ever lost in the forums and don't know how to get back to the main (home) page, click in one of these two places at the top of the forum page that you're on:

Hi Tito, welcome to the forums!

Rosie has already explained to you how to create a new post in one of the forums. Another helpful thing is to look whether the thing that troubles you has already been discussed. Due to some issues currently afflicting the forum search, the best experience is usually by using Google and adding site:community.logos.com to your other search terms, which will then search the Logos forums.

Regarding your question, and since you didn't create the thread by now: the fastest way would be trying the activation code in https://www.logos.com/redeem - if this doesn't work, maybe a call to Customer Service is the second best idea - see https://wiki.logos.com/Installing_Libronix_Books

Hope this helps,

Mick
