You can just keep your XP machine offline and dedicated to Libronix. No vulnerablity to hackers that way.

Well, you and Denise may feel that it says "Libby" on the label, but I don't know why you want to continue to have it on your table.  The obvious solution is to upgrade your OS and switch to L5.

Ensure you have a hardware firewall e.g. a router or modem/router. Update to IE9 and have a good security suite (one only) together with a anti-Malware/Spyware program that you use only for scanning on a schedule or run manually. Use CCleaner aggressively, especially for Cookies (keep only the ones you know about). Be prudent with your access to Internet, especially for music.

Get rid of third party toolbars and be careful about installing free programs which demand/ask you to install toolbars (although you can usually uninstall them afterwards). All that glitters is not gold!

Then you can ignore the doomsday prophecies that accompany the cessation of Support!
