BUG: Notes "heading" automated title bug?

It's the same notes file on both side of the image below. Left side are how the notes started and now that I'm a couple of chapters into the book the notes "heading auto-title" just keep populating it the same way and unabbreviated. It's also the same book that I'm adding notes from.

I know its pushing the selection heading over because the window is reduced and that part seems to be working based on what I have selected when I add the notes. But shouldn't the "heading auto-title" be populating it with the same "HJIC" abbreviation and not the long title "Bibliographic citation. Title=Messianic..."? Is this a note bug, resource bug, or have I some setting set weird...????

The resource is:
Gundry, Stanley N., and Louis Goldberg, eds. How Jewish Is Christianity? Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2003. Print. Zondervan Counterpoints Collection.

I'm thinking this may be a resource issue as I can't duplicate the problem in any other resource.

[:D] Thanks Mr. Murray and Peace and Grace to you. I'm sure MacGiver is being "re-run" somewhere. I recall similar circumstances of both MacGiver, Airwolf and the "boob tube" of the '80s. LOL

    Hi Anthony

I get the "Bibliographic citation" notes heading if I highlight a portion of text as opposed to creating a note by right-clicking on the text and choosing the "Add a note" option.

Have you changed the way in which you are creating notes / highlighting as you have worked through the book?

I have been using the selection method from the begining.

Checking... It doesn't seem to matter.

Selected or unselected. Right click with selection or right click with reference it still gives me the long automated heading title:

"Bibliographic citation. Title = Messianic Congregations Are Not Necessary" which wrong because I'm in another chapter with a different title.

It seems to only do it on this resource.

EDIT: Just double checked a few other resources along with new note files and it is definitely the resource as I can not duplicate it with any other book but can duplicated it in a new note with the same resource.

    Hi Anthony

I have been experimenting with this and these particular headings seem to appear in resources which have a "Bibliographic Index"

Can you click the "i" at the top-right of the resource panel and check what indexes are present in the resource you are doing.

Below is what I see for a resource which demonstrates this behaviour -"Into God's Presence: Prayer in the New Testament"

When I try and take a note using the right-click menu I get the option for making the note as a selection or reference (as you allude to above) with the "Reference" option showing the Bibliographic information.

I would have expected the "selection" option to give the original behaviour and the "reference" option to provide the bibliographic one but both provide the bibliographic one.

Is this consistent with what you are seeing?

    Yes it is.

That's what I also expected (the "selection" option to have the original behaviour and the "reference" option to provide the bibliographic one) but both provide just the bibliographic one.

I tested and you are right that this behavior is specific to any book resource that has bibliographic indexes (bibliographic Item/page).

    Thanks Anthony

So we seem to have a narrowed-down, reproducible scenario.

Hopefully someone from Logos will be able to comment as to whether this is correct behaviour or not.

I was able to reproduce this behavior, and have created a case for a developer to look into the issue.

That would be nice, given that I already reported this bug 15 months ago.[:D]

4 BUGS in [highlighting] note files

(Thanks, Graham, for figuring out why/how it happens.)

This should be fixed in 5.2a Beta 2.

Behaviour has certainly changed in 5.2a Beta 2 but I just wanted to query something.

In the screenshot below I created the second note by selecting the text which is highlighted orange in the resource and choosing to create a note by selection.

The first note was created by selecting the text which is shown highlighted in blue - note this blue is simply indicating that the text is selected, the blue is not the result of any highlighting effect - and choosing to create a note by reference. The note entry in the notesfile is blank and the note indicator as set at the beginning of the chapter.

Is the behaviour observed for the first note correct? I can easily see that it could be but just wanted to check!

    Thanks, Graham

If the reference shown in the context menu was Ch 4 then the behaviour is correct; as is the case for the second note.

I am certainly happy to see  instead of what shows in 4 BUGS in [highlighting] note files. However, unlike  other resources with data types, the exact reference still doesn't show. It should. And there is no need for such a long reference title. 'Lumen Gentium 2' would be enough. Or, better still, just 'LG 2'. More space for the reference means less space for the note title.
