BUG: 5.2a Beta 2 Mac fails to recognize installed fonts
This problem is not unique to the latest beta. In 5.2 SR-3, Logos did not recognize Ezra SiL as a Hebrew font. I downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of this font, and L5 recognized it. However, with the update to 5.2a Beta 2, this font has again disappeared from the Logos font menus. SBL Hebrew is a fine font, but MS Word refuses to recognize its existence.
Note that 5.2 Win does recognize Ezra SiL as a Hebrew font.

I can reproduce this on Mac,and I will create a case for Development to investigate.
Sorry for the late response. [:(]

Great.

I had forgotten the previous post and was ready to report it again. Today, I had to restart my Mac to get Logos to recognize Ezra SIL. What makes this a serious issue is MS Word's refusal to play pretty with SBL Hebrew.

Jack,
Do you have any warnings in your logs on startup the look like: "Skipping <font name> due to duplicate font family <some other font name>"?
If you remove the "Ezra SIL" from your Font Book, does it "fix" the issue with Logos? What version of Ezra SIL did you install?
Also, what version of OS X are you running?

Started L5 for the first time today, and Ezra was not present. Not quite the warning you describe, but I do have this
[quote]

7462.LogosLogs.jackcav.20140205-090510.zip
Restarted L5, Ezra now present, but had these warnings:

02/05/2014 09:08:31 | WARN | 1 | Fonts | Skipping Ezra SIL SR due to duplicate font family Ezra SIL
02/05/2014 09:08:32 | WARN | 1 | Fonts | Skipping QuickType Condensed due to duplicate font family TaxTypeCondensed8306.LogosLogs.jackcav.20140205-091221.zip

If I do that will it not remove that font from all applications?
Drug both Ezra families to the desktop and restarted L5. Ezra was present in L5 but absent from MS Word—a classic case of the cure being worse than the disease [:(]
Still had this warning:

Version 2.51, 2007

Jack,
Thanks for the update. You can reinstall Ezra SIL if you need it for Word, I just wanted to confirm the behavior you are seeing. We've been able to reproduce the behavior internally, including the sporadic nature of it, and we're trying to isolate the cause of it.

Interestingly enough, I have no duplicate fonts on my iMac. I do run this check occasionally, and did so again after reading your previous posts.

We ship a versions of Ezra SIL and Ezra SIL SR internally in the Logos.app bundle so that is why the font is always available in the app, even if you don't have it installed.

Suspected as much. Thanks for the confirmation. Guess you need to include a way to override the duplicate error. Why does L5 not detect the duplicate each time Logos is opened. It seems to occur most often the first time I open L5 each day. But sometimes, it seems to lose Ezra while Logos is running.

This should be fixed in 5.2a Beta 4.

As it turns out, this was a problem with the very old versions of Ezra SIL and Ezra SIL SR we shipped with the app. We've updated the bundled versions to 2.51. The previous versions were v2.0 and the Ezra SIL SR font reported itself as Ezra SIL on Mac. Depending on the order that the system loaded your Ezra SIL (v 2.51) font and our bundled, broken Ezra SIL SR font (which said it was Ezra SIL), you might or might not get the font.
