If you are using version 4.0a, then you can select Tools->Program Settings. In there you can turn off Visual Bookmarkers. This will remove them from your windows.

I'm not sure how the locations hinder paging up and down, but you can turn those marks off in Tools>Settings set "Show Visual Bookmarks" to "No"

If you do not exercise due care, you could click one of those location marks and end up on a page you did not want. Irritates me to do that. I only have two options to place blame: 1) Myself for not watching where I clicked or 2) Logos for putting those marks where I was going to click. Guess who I blame? Devil

Personally, I'm glad 4.0a gives me the option to turn them off.
