Collections Crashing L5

After the recent update 3/20/14 - 5.2a (5.2.1.0063) 4:00am, Logos 5 crashes upon clicking on the collection button. Tried everything I've done in the past when issues have arisen, I am indexing now to see if that makes any difference. Everything else seems to be working. Something to check after the update. I will call support when they decide to wake up out west.

Hi Michael, you are not the only one who is having this crash. At least I'm guessing it's the same crash I'm having (though I'd have to see your crash log file to be sure). See this thread.

Tommy Ball from Logos has been working with me behind the scenes to troubleshoot what is going wrong. I will point out that you're another user having this problem too, and it might help them to isolate what is different about our particular setups that causes it, as other people are not experiencing the crash.

I did what Graham asked but I needed the collections working. I reinstalled from a backup I made just the week before. Went back to

Logos Bible Software 5.2 SR-6 (5.2.0.0136)

I can not find a copy of the e-mail I sent! Where does all that stuff go I wonder. When I did the reinstall I moved Logos to a different hard drive and erased the old directory.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry you're having problems with Logos. The Logos.log file doesn't record a crash, so I'm not quite sure why it is crashing. There is probably some information in Windows' Event Viewer that will help figure out why it is crashing, but it will be easier for us to troubleshoot the problem if you call us at your earliest convenience.

Though the Logos.log file does not record a crash, LogosCrash.txt does, and it's the same crash I was experiencing on opening Collections:

The key text is: NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I understand Development has figured out what is causing this crash and will fix it in an upcoming update, hopefully RC2.

Michael, RC2 has now been released with a fix to the crash I reported. Try updating to that and see if it fixes your crash too.

Update

Collections seem to work BUT it now looks different. When I click on collections it opens to a window that has all my books displayed with NO rule listed. This area was always blank before I gave it a rule. I am able to make a collection and it works, but that is the difference I see today.

I am seeing the same thing - it does seem a strange change to have made.

If I start entering something in the filter box and then delete it I get the blank screen back again

Something isn't consistent here.

I like it better with the populated box. An unfiltered list should show everything. I think it a bug when the filter is deleted for it to go blank.

Definitely different, but Randy has a point, but I like starting with nothing and creating vs eliminating.

Mine is behaving the same after deleting the filter term.

This has been fixed in 5.2a SR 1. A collection with no rule entered will no longer show your full Library.
