Ok, I have started to try and use Logos 5.x on my original Surface Pro 8.1 Tablet and I am noticing its a bit of a challenge.  I want to be able to switch views so I can look up a text quick in multiple versions as we are reading along, but I also want to be able to check out some commentaries as we go too.

First thing I notice is that Logos prefers to be connected to Wifi and if I run offline (or am forced to)...well lets just say its not happy.  I can run Wifi off my phone as a hotspot but here is my real first question:

  • Anyway to make sure I have downloaded every book in my library, done a proper index before Bible Study (so it doesn't try to kick one off in the middle of it) and that the system will run without being connected to Wifi?

I wish there was a (no one laugh I am being serious)  Bible Study mode that is a preset that has me optimized and ready to go while seated at the Bible study and ready to be useful and helpful with all my resources.

I am off to figure out how to turn off the click sound on my onboard keyboard too...I never could have imagined that might be annoying in a quiet Bible study with others, but its a distraction. (addendum: I just found this helpful link below)

Blessings and Happy upcoming Holy Month preparation everyone.

The first step will be to turn off auto updates in the Settings. Beyond that I'll defer to others with more thorough experience than me.

If you are running 8.1 pro on your surface you should be able to install Logos 5 including all of your licensed resources. The simplest way to do this is to use one of the methods described on this wiki page http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers. Once the installation is complete make sure you have "Automatically download updates" set to no.

I have used method 2 many times and it works great.

I am making the assumption that you have a desktop or other computer running Logos 5.

If the surface is your only computer, then you will need to install the program and your resources by downloading them. The initial install and indexing will take some time depending on you internet connection and hardware specs. Make sure you allow the entire installation, resource download, and first-time indexing finish completely. This wiki page may be helpful http://wiki.logos.com/Installation_and_Indexing_FAQ$27s
