Zacharias Ursinus' commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism has reached the necessary bids to go into production. The current price is $8, but with a few more bids the price will go down to $7. Remember that with community pricing you always pay the lowest price. I for example bid $18 on this book and will be getting it for at least $10 less than I bid!

Bidding closes on Friday. After that point the book will go to a higher prepublication price.

While you are there, may I ask everyone to consider a bid for Bible Studies by Adolf Deissmann [DOWNLOAD]?  it is almost over the top.

Sorry Keith, that work is a bit over my head.

I do have a question.  How many years does it take for a resource to become "public-domain"?

In general for books published 1923 or after in the US 75years after the death of the author.

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Actually the Heidelberg Catechism is very devotional in nature and although Ursinus' commentary can get a little long winded at times, it is certainly not over your head. A tip that has help me in reading some of this old stuff is to read the portions I find difficult out loud. The way I had it explained to me is that most of these works where written in Latin and in an oral rhetorical style and were meant to be read out loud, not silently. I don't know how much truth there is in this, but it does work for me.

That depends on how long and successfully the heirs can reapply for copyright protection. I think I read somewhere that at a certain point written material automatically becomes public domain, but I am not sure.

Only a few more bids at $7 or more and this resource will cross the $7 line! Keep those bids coming!
