Why is this necessary on a Mac?

If you do a SCAN of resources on Windows, you must restart Logos/Verbum and in the startup it scans.

If you do a SCAN on Mac, you must also RESTART THE ENTIRE MACHINE - at least under Verbum.

Why is that necessary, and can it be changed? Not very user friendly on a Mac!!

You can't necessarily assume that the reason/cause for this is due to the Mac and/or OS X. You may not be aware but Logos for Mac is not a 'pure' (i.e. 100% native) Mac application. It has Windows code running via a emulation software layer called 'Mono'. I would actually say that the cause for this reboot, if it is actually required, would be more likely due to Logos and/or Mono.

Quit of application on OS X can leave VerbumIndexer process running. Activity Monitor on OS X can be used to force quit VerbumIndexer so next launch of Verbum application also starts VerbumIndexer and SCAN processing.
