SO I went through a book for a college course and highlighted/made notes into a notes document. Now i wan tot print these out to arrange for my paper. However, in FULL mode, I only get the first few words, and ellipsis, and the last few words. Only if i change to Quote mode will i see the entire thing, but i cannot print or export into word from the quotes screen.

what am i missing here?

Unfortunately, nothing. I haven't had to deal with this issue as you are because I rarely export of print a note file and when I do the ellipsis is not important. I therefore don't know if there might be an easy work-around, though I doubt there is.

You will probably have to follow the links back to the text and copy and paste it into the note section of your note file so it will be complete.

made notes into a notes document.

This is why the Clippings feature is better for printing quotes from a resource. You can add your notes to each clipping, and you get both the full text and the full note when you print/export.

This is a hack, but you could choose "Show Reading View" from the panel menu of your Notes document when in Quotes mode. This will enable you to see the greatest possible amount of content on the screen at one time. Then take a full-screen screenshot (Ctrl+PrtScr in Windows, or use screen capture software like Jing), print that image, page down and do it again, etc., until you reach the end of your Notes document. Depending on how many highlights and notes you created in that book you might not have to print too many pages, maybe 3 or 4 if you're lucky.

Please help me understand, in L6 one cannot use Print/Export function for Notes?

I am able to do it in L5

You can Print/Export Notes in both L5 and L6, but the new "Quotes" feature in L6 which shows the entire content of the note, not just the ellipsis version, cannot be printed. Rather, I should say, you can bring up the Print/Export dialog for it, but what is shown (and allowed to be printed from there) is only the ellipsis version of the notes:

One might consider this a bug or defect with the Quotes view, that it can't be printed. But maybe Faithlife did that on purpose to prevent people from having a backdoor way of exporting huge sections of text in books.

Thanks for the replies. Learned my lesson and off to do some clippings. Then to write a paper from those :)

Are you saying that if I upgrade from L5 to L6 I won't be able to print MY notes - my content that I have created  - 1000s of notes on the scriptures, etc?

this does not make sense: Logos allows one to export the ENTIRE copyrighted book to Word, Kindle, PDF, etc., but does not allow us to export OUR OWN notes? This is inconceivable!

No - you are still able to do this when in "Full" mode

The "Quotes" mode shows all the quotes from Logos resources which have been highlighted and it is this content which can't be printed

No. She's saying that the new "Quotes" feature, which basically contains those text excerpts from the resurces which you underlined, currently lacks a print dialog (L5 lacks the feature in total). To the best of my knowledge, updating to L6 will not take away any existing feature in L5 notes.

Maybe printing the quotes will come in 6.0a, we don't know.

I think I may be misunderstanding the issue here. You are just talking about printing HIGHLIGHTs, right?

How do long personal notes Print/Export under L6. I haven't yet upgraded to L6, that is why I ask these basic questions. Can you provide a screenshot?

the new "Quotes" feature in L6 which shows the entire content of the note

Nitpick: the "Quotes" feature shows the text that was highlighted in the resource. (The "note" is the text you add, which isn't shown at all in Quotes view.)

One might consider this a bug or defect with the Quotes view, that it can't be printed.

It's an unimplemented feature; I'll file a bug report.

This is likely the only reason I continue to read Kindle versions over Logos/Vyrso. With Amazon I am able to export my highlights (to Evernote) for later review. I'd abandon Amazon entirely if I could do this with the Faithlife products.

Thank you, that sounds ideal! I'm a rabid 'clipper' and 'annotator' and I'm still trying to find the best workflow in Logos; sadly, there's been a lot of deleting and moving things around so far. I've been spoiled by this wonderful reading app (Marvin) I use on my iPad that lets me highlight and make notes to my heart's content, which I can then send as an html file to myself. It's quite nifty.

Hey guys, that's exactly what I really wait for: kindle-style highlighting and export functions. I'm a total freak when it comes to highlighting. I can't read without doing it... I even bought an iPad because highlighting was easier on an iPad at that time...

But what is it worth, when I can't gather my highlights decently? Or even print them!?

Hi Yasmin, you can't read Logos books with those apps can you?

You can, but in a roundabout way. I use the Send-to-Kindle feature (*) to get the books into my Amazon account; I then download it from the Amazon cloud drive and convert it (using Calibre) to ePUB.  As an ePUB file, I send it to both the Marvin app (for superior highlighting and note-making functionality) and to the Voice Dream app (for superior text-to-speech functionality). A bit contortionist but works for me [:)]

Of course, I still highlight and make notes in the Logos environment but I do it grudgingly [:)]

(*please remember that this feature isn't available for all Logos books)

Bradley, just wondering on the status of this.  I discovered the "Quote" feature recently and would like to export the full highlighted text and not the truncated.  Even if I could simply select and copy, that would suffice for now.

This is a feature that I would like to use as well. It is great that you can view the highlighted text but I want to copy or print it to another document file.

    Just a "me too" post.

As a new Logos user, I am baffled by the disparity between Clippings and Notes. I am spending a lot of time trying to figure out a workflow instead of studying. :)

I am prone to use clippings, except for the fact that I want a highlight to show in the text. Feature request here.

As others have said, I am fairly used to highlighting and taking notes in Kindle, and then grabbing them afterward. I can even use voice input to dialog with the text as a note-taking method. It should be said that the web interface on kindle to grab your highlights and notes is not stellar, and last time I checked, can't be done from the native mobile app on android.

There have been a couple times over the last week when I would have loved to print the complete highlights from the quotes tab.  Has there been any progress or intention to fix this?
