Hello,

I remember being a child at home sometimes after lunch my father took the bible and opened the bibel randomly. He read a vers that was bold printed in our german Luther Bible. Sadly this is not posible with Bible Logos desktop sofware and not with the App.

What about putting a random-button in the menue to choose a bible vers by chance?

What do you think about it?

Greetings and blessings,

Artur

Yes it is! At least in the desktop software, I'm not sure about the mobile apps.

This feature is called Facilitate Serendipitous Discovery (fsd for short). Type fsd in the command line to open to a random place in a random book in your library. To limit it to the Bible, create a collection and put whatever bibles in it that you want to be used for the random bible verse thing. Call it whatever you want (say, "Random Bibles"). Then type fsd in Random Bibles to jump to a random verse in a random version. If you always want to use the same version, then just include that one version in your collection. Finally, to make this command into a button, drag the command "Facilitate Serendipitous Discovery in Random Bibles" from the dropdown menu (as you are typing in the command line) onto your toolbar, and then you can click it whenever you want to read a random verse. Voila!

Yes, there can be dangers it just picking random bible verses out of context and thinking they are meant as a message to you. Classic example to point out, George. Smile

I also love the joke about the pastor who went to pay a call on a parishioner. He rang the doorbell, but there was no answer, even though he could hear from noises inside that there was clearly someone home. So he took a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back and stuck it under the door. The next Sunday, his business card was returned in the offering plate. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10." Smile Not exactly verses chosen at random, but it demonstrates that verses taken out of context can mean whatever you want them to mean.
