This is following up a potential anomaly noted in https://community.logos.com/forums/p/98218/678349.aspx#678349

Should the "Literary Typing" tagging for Psalms match the Genre information presented in Psalms Explorer?

For example a search for "Royal Psalms" - {Section <LiteraryType Psalm, Royal>} - returns just two Psalms: 2, 89 whereas Psalms Explorer has those two but adds another eight

A search for "Wisdom Psalms" - {Section <LiteraryType Psalm, Wisdom>} - returns 14 Psalms:1, 19, 34, 49, 73, 78, 91, 105, 106, 112, 119, 127, 128 and 132.

Psalms Explorer has 9 Wisdom Psalms -  doesn't include 34, 91, 105, 106, 127, 128 or 132 but does have 37, 50 (which are tagged with Literary Types "Poetry" and "Poetry, Liturgy" respectively)

Should these match up more than they do or are they showing different things?

These datasets are sourced completely differently and their terminology overlaps in some places. One possible reason for the discrepancy is that the data in Psalms Explorer allows multiple types for each Psalm, while the Literary Typing data only allows one type per passage/Psalm.

Hi Rick - thanks for getting back to me. But i'm still confused!

But isn't - to use an example from above - a Wisdom Psalm a Wisdom Psalm? Wouldn't literary typing and genre be expected to match?

Rick Brannan:

Is this actually the case? Psalm 50 seems to have two literary types associated with it
