Whether it was once available or not, it is apparently a reasonably authoritative guide to Catholic dogma so we should have it.

One huge advantage is that it is one volume so that those of us who are not Catholic will not be required to wade through all of the nit-picky details.

Nit-picky? Surprise One advantage of Ott is his ability to be nit-picky succinctly. But people who read German complain about the English translation being inaccurate ... Maybe the German would be easier to get the rights too.

Sounds good to me.  I could use some practice in reading German.  I'm afraid I have let it go to seed lately

(5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up quickly, since it had no depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched; and since it had no root, it withered away.)

The translation previously in Logos is currently published by TAN books, an imprint of St. Benedict Press. Here is the copyright from their book (which adds a bit to copyright in the Logos version):

Grundriss der Katholischen Dogmatik by Dr. Ludwig Ott, first published in 1952 by Verlag Herder, Freiburg, Germany. All rights reserved.

Translation by Dr. Patrick Lynch, edited by James Canon Bastible, D.D, for Mercier Press Limited, Cork, Ireland. First published in 1955 by Mercier Press and in the USA by B. Herder Book Company, St. Louis, MO. All rights reserved.

First published by TAN Books in 1974. Reprinted by TAN as successor-in-interest to B. Herder Book Company and in accordance with 104A(d)(3) of Title 17 of the US Code.

Faithlife sells a few books by St. Benedict Press, so it seems possible that FCD could be readded.

The German copyright is (relatively) recent too (1952), so it's possible that it is just as restricted as the translation.

Here I go resurrecting an old post, but does anyone have any information on why this title seems to be no longer available, not only not in Logos, but not anywhere (electronically at least)? Was it just completely pulled by the publisher?
