Hi Jacob

I've just read your post on the (off-topic) forum week post, regarding creating conflict through labels (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/34773.aspx).  The post is locked, so I can't reply to it, hence the comment here.

I'd been thinking recently about how helpful it would be to have resources tagged with denominational/theological/tradition labels, where the author/publisher makes these clear (eg. reformed, lutheran, pentecostal, roman catholic, baptist, dispensational), and I think this is what you're saying has been discussed.  I wonder if you could refer me to these discussions, presumably by providing forum links, or even summarise the thinking for me as it has been presented.  Such labels are sometimes used within the marketing of resources and would make creation of collections and searches easier.  Even if there were suggested collections based on author or publisher, then these would be helpful.

Thanks.

Andrew

Hi, Jacob;

Thanks for the kind words. I think it’s best that I DO refrain from posting here. I believe that you can see that I strayed from accepted practice while offering my opinions concerning your opinions. You have the ability to disguise your theological discussions as “Logological” discussions. I do not have (nor do I care to perfect) that ability. You gave a very good summary of the point I was trying to make when you said:

“So God's sovereign hand works simultaneously even with aims of evil. God is not therefore responsible for evil, but he has purposes in it.

And it turns out, there is very little disagreement between us, once we understand each other’s position.

My approach to Bible study is to compile all the information I absorb from Scripture, and build that into a composite “Picture of God”. If something I encounter does not fit that picture, warning flags go up. The concept that God “causes” the hardships that refine us, is a major red flag for me.

It is very obvious why

Mckenzie directed me to Driscoll’s work on Peter. I relate most with Peter. And that must be more obvious than I ever knew.

I blame Philip http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3999/31034.aspx#31034

It's temporary though.
