Thanks Sean. [quote user="Sean Boisen"] [quote user="Batman"] Phil Gons Last year I was extremely frustrated once again with Logos because I was able to find the verse in a fraction of a second doing a Google search for the verse where Jesus says to "deny yourself", while in Logos, it never showed up. Well, it turns out it is actually "deny themselves

Bibles, I like NIV/TNIV Lexham ESV HCSB Hopefully you have a good sense of the original languages, so you can add the Biblica Hebraica and a Greek NT. I suppose in the end, this is why a group effort, of differing opinions and backgrounds is good. Oddly, I do not mind "Dynamic Equivalence" if the idea gets the point across; such as the NIV does. I do prefer a more literal translation, but, at the same time, where DE helps the reader better understand the point, it's probably in some ways more accurate

Indeed. My mother was an odd duck when it comes to translating. Despite all her attempts at learning Greek and Hebrew, she never got how languages work; especially when it comes to translating. She always thought translations should translate literally-- and precisely as written. Kind of Yoda speak. Unfortunately, I dont think she every studied much

Whoops. Sorry this is several centuries late, but, I never saw a response to this thread. I do want to respond, esp. since for whatever reason, I did not state why I said he "desecrated the text". I should have. Yes. You are correct. There are those who would make the argument you make in regards to "ghost" and "spirit". However, I do not see this as

Denise: Woah! I never got the notice of any replies to this, back in 2017! Discovered this almost by accident, one could say. Sheesh. I had purchased several print Bibles that year. I was hoping the Jewish Study Bible would have some insights from the Jewish perspective. I see I did not state what precisely my displeasure with this was. He translates

This may help http://www.becomingjewish.org/learning_biblical_hebrew/pdf/qal_infinitive_absolute-hebrew.pdf The question I have is, Are you doing self study, or a structured study? While Biblical Hebrew is an "easier" language to learn, it also has many nuances that we do not see as modern era people. They had a completely different way to convey the

Hey Hamilton. Appreciate the links and time you spent to send them. Hope others will too. And yes, user "Keep Smiling for Jesus" is a huge asset to the community. And I'm squawking over a one time session. online or IRL? Actually, as much as it bothers me, I do agree doing an IRL training would be much more beneficial. First, you can ask questions a lot easier than online; and yes, for the fellowship, and seeing others struggle too. LOL. j/k [quote user="Pastor Don Carpenter"] I want to chime in here as a long

Oy vey! I'd have to run away. I know churches have to make money; but, really? ads? Tim Hawkins had a funny set; advertisers in hymns. Ford, I lift your name on high, and so on. Sadly, Im wondering if he was joking. It may actually be reality! I cant do a full picture, but, I'll do my best. Preferences for Desk Top/Home page/Explorer: [] Bible Study

  • PLEASE Do not clutter Ads

First, I want to thank FL for at least allowing us to remove most ads from our Home Page. Second, and I do not personally under why any one would want them cluttering their Home Page, but, I do understand some people do. So, allowing people to keep or remove is good. Third, I have been using the phrase "Most of them", because most of the ads disappear

This seems to be a DRM (Digital Rights Management) issue. I have never liked DRMs, as they are pretty much bogus. However, in this situation, the actual "owner" of the work is due their money "A workman is worthy of their hire". Because of pirated software, and the ease of pirating software, even amongst otherwise decent and honest Christians, this

Rick, Totally agree with that idea. I hate when companies want our money, but dont want to talk to us. I did happen to go for it, this morning. Everything went through fine. Before submitting and confirming, make sure you get the discount, and renewal date is right. If not, obviously dont submit, and if it is, go for it. First month is free, I paid
