  • Re: do you think its worth paying for a i7 or will i5 be fast enough im looking at refurbished 15 inch they are 1500 rpm,

I think you mean 5400RPM -- 1500RPM would even open notepad :) I have a new MacBook Pro i5 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM, however, the day it arrived, I tossed the 5400RPM drive it came with and dropped in a 7200RPM WD. I am "reasonably satisfied." I really hope they continue to make improvements. Considering the price jump to get an i7 (I think it was $450)

  • forum locks up chrome on mac

I use Mac OS X 10.6.6 and Chrome 10.0.612.3 dev (I just always use the latest dev version), but the forum pages lock up and Chrome has to kill the page. I use safari when I go to the logos forums, but was wondering if you could look into why they don't get along with Chrome. Thanks, Richard

  • Re: Practical question on storing comments on specific Scriptures

If I want a note linked, I just use a "Notes" file. Otherwise, I put everything in Evernote (www.evernote.com). I have over 1100 notes and have used this for several years. It's a great way to keep notes organized and synced across multiple computers and devices.

  • Re: Logos 4 for Mac is so slow!

I agree that Logos for Mac is slower than any other application on my laptop, and I would definitely like to see it faster. However, I can't describe it as "unusable." I went from a mid-range PC laptop to a MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz, 4Gb RAM, 7200RPM HDD. It is definitely a speed improvement. The mid-range PC is unusable. The Mac is very usable, and it sounds

  • Re: Questions for your computer experts

I recently switched to Mac after using Dell and HP for about 15 years, and have spent a lot of that time fixing PCs as well. I've seen just as many Dells have problems as HPs, and there doesn't seem to be any difference in quality when you buy a high end Dell or HP as a $500 Best Buy sale laptop. Some last a long time, some don't. I've never heard anyone

btw - I would gladly settle for a command line script that would update the database.

  • suggestion - apply style changes to all notes

I know I can change the default font and font size for new notes, but it doesn't apply to existing notes. To change the font for existing notes, I have to go back to every note, which is impossible. Would it be possible to set the font size for all notes? Ten point font just isn't as big as it used to be for me :)

  • Re: updating a saved layout is so painful

Ok, here's the answer -- it's a long two-finger click. I brief two-finger click isn't enough, at least not on my MacBook Pro 2010, Mac OS X 10.6.5. If I do a long (like one second) two-finger click, then letting up shows the secondary menu.

  • Re: updating a saved layout is so painful

actually, I think you have to do cmd+right-click and hold for a couple of seconds, then you can update. However, it's much easier to rename the current named layout, then name the current snapshot to the original layout name, and try deleting the old layout another time.

  • updating a saved layout is so painful

I just switched to Mac (!) but I've found that updating a saved layout is intensely painful. I finally figured out (I think) that it was simply right click (i.e. two-finger click) but cmd+right-click. However, it's very difficult to get that right. Maybe one of my fingers let up or both fingers don't press enough, but it's extremely difficult to get

  • highlighting across versions

I have a suggestion about highlighting. In the same way that a note can be applied across versions by making a note on the reference, I would like to have highlighting apply to a reference so that any version I open shows what I have highlighted.

  • Re: Removing the free content available generally for users with Base Packages?

I believe it's in the program settings where you can hide resources. I'm not at my pc right now, but there is an option to hide resources.

  • Re: Jehovah's Witnesses and Christadelphians

Start where Jesus started -- himself. Jesus said that all of Scripture pointed to himself, so rather than chasing after potential rabbit trails, I think it might be useful to start with who Jesus is, who we are, and why Jesus came. In doing so, you'll encounter a host of hermeneutic issues. It's likely that these presuppositions underlie their notions

  • Re: Have you noticed ... The Evangelical Dictionary of Theology 2nd Ed is now a stand alone e-book

agreed. Even if I didn't already have the hardback, for $23 difference I would pass on Logos. $60 for a $38 book would make me choke.

I have the ESVSB...on my ipod touch and android phone via Olive Tree, and I also have (several) print editions. It would still be nice to see some screenshots.

Hey Logos -- Could we get a couple of screenshots of how exactly it's going to look?

You really want the McNeill/Battles translation. It's available at www.ageslibrary.com, but only in PDF format (though very well indexed for searching).

Thanks all -- I still hoping for better optimizations, but I'm glad to know that a HDD upgrade would actually provide better results.
