    Resolved. Manually updated Word (not Office 365, just regular 2016) and it is now working without the workaround. Woohoo!

    For those curious, if I do say I'd like to save the changes to the global template, it tells me that it cannot save while the file is in use by another process and it needs to be saved with another name.

    Would really appreciate quick replies because now I can't even use Word. It keeps giving me error messages that "Changes have been made that affect the global template. Do you want to save these changes?"

    Just to clarify, this is only fixed for Microsoft 365 users? We have Office 2016 and it still doesn't work for us. Oddly, I'm setting up my wife's new computer and the workaround won't even work on her computer with Office '16. The Macro worked in Office, and I can manually add the Macro (by going to Tools->Macro->Macros->and having it run

    This works great for me. One question: Does anyone know how to make it paste (with the citation) but also match formatting. I have it working with the macro but it's not matching my formatting, which for research papers can be quite cumbersome to have to reformat every time I cite (which is a lot!).
