• Re: Other theological dictionaries in searches?
Please try to bump up the priority/urgency of this LCV work. It's one of the most common disappointments with Logos we see on the forums. People remembering the old L3 topic browser and wanting to be able to do something like that in L4, people wanting a quick way to search for headwords in dictionaries and encyclopedias
... On the above mention thread I expressed concern that the advertising for the Zondervan Collection contains the line, 'Titles integrate into custom search reports, Passage Guides, Exegetical Guides, and the other advanced features of Logos Bible Software.' No mention was made of the fact that some of the tagging was incomplete

  • Re: Future of Search
It was a general comment, given the direction Logos appears to be moving and hinting, as I read it. Already our content is online, and reduced functionally if we don't have a recent sync with the cloud (thinking loss of data / backups here) A hint that PBB may have a significant online aspect, including maybe the processing. The

  • Re: 4.0d: Suggestion: Rationalise Logos search fields

We're actively working on several fronts here to: rationalize the fields we use in markup go back over older resources and making the field markup more consistent expose all the available fields for user search Most recent resources will use these general fields consistently: footnote surface heading (currently only Bibles, but other resources soon

Dominick: I don't have a 5-year plan, and you'd be advised to disbelieve it if I did: the technology changes way too fast for that. But you're absolutely correct that as the library grows, the challenge changes from "more books" to "better access". Here are a few things we're thinking about: One of our highest priorities is incorporating more dictionaries
I would have thought the IVP Dictionaries which were just released would have been searchable. Are these slated for editing to allow inclusion in topical searches?
Yes, they are. Here are the dictionaries that are currently included: ISBE Anchor-Yale Bible Dictionary New Bible Dictionary Eerdmans Bible Dictionary Eerdmans
... The OP has a valid point that there are plenty of sales folks at Logos, but not enough "after the sale" folks.
If you want to use this as a measure of Logos' commitment to customers "after the sale", the ratio of customer/technical support staff to sales staff is roughly 4:1. No argument that we're still not

  • Re: Biblical Places suggestion

Dewayne: Thanks for the suggestion. Several of the Tools open up in a separate floating window for just this reason: you really need more space to see them, and then you can even make that window full-screen and toggle between the different windows (Alt-Tab is your friend). I expect we'll continue to add information to the strip at the top: so if anything
If you're interested in why things are the way they are, this old thread , and particularly this post from Logos employee Sean Boisen explain why.
Just to sprinkle in a bit of hope: We hope to roll out heading-specific search in the near future. We know how to do it technically: the major issue at this point is that

  • Re: RegTagger in Google Wave

David: I looked into this a couple of months ago, but couldn't figure out an easy way. You can't directly modify the Wave "template" in the way you would a WordPress template. I think my conclusion was that it would involve coding a Wave Robot that runs over the wave and modifies its contents. For Python, that in turn requires getting set up with Google

Dominick: There are two sets of Google Maps geocoordinates: one is static, and part of the gray information panel at the top, the other actually tracks the current cursor position and is therefore dynamic.

Sorry, it's not a bug, it's a feature Specifically, there are two kinds of pages on topics.logos.com: those that correspond to the Logos Controlled Vocabulary (LCV), our internal database of concepts in the field of Biblical studies (which is what populates the "Look it up" Topic section of Search results) new pages contributed by users, but not (yet

Mark: There are a couple of different issues here, but you're right that we're missing some connections we ought to have (like the connection from Egypt as a region to Egypt topics). Anchor doesn't seem to have an article on the land of Egypt or the Egyptian people as a whole (if you look at Egyptians in Biblical People you'll find some other dictionaries
