• Re: Price Disparity Between Logos and Kindle

Peter, Kindle does allow you to copy/paste text into a Word doc. I had thought as you do, but I was corrected by a pastor friend of mine. I purchased several theology books in Kindle for a research paper this last semester (due to the cost disparity and/or availability with Logos) and the feature worked fine. I think the OP is on to something here.

  • Re: Price Disparity Between Logos and Kindle

The Kindle Edition of Think Orange is 272 pages long. With a 10% limit you would be allowed to copy approximately 27 pages for teaching use. Using more than that amount might violate Fair Use if your use inhibits others from having to buy the book. This would potentially result in an impairment of the market for the work and thus might be a violation

Your statement is incendiary and without merit.

  • Re: Which would you choose?

Thanks! I spoke with Logos today and was able to get them to upgrade me to Gold for what would have been the original price. That saved be about $70 total. The pricing that I got from then wasn't different than what I was seeing online. There was some confusion over the BECNT figures...apparently the reps aren't seeing the "customization" pricing so

  • Re: Pros and Cons of Multiple Digital Formats

I realize that this is an older thread, but I wanted to point out that there is a valid reason to run other software if one has made investments in them before coming to Logos. I keep Pradis, Wordsearch, Quickverse and PC Study Bible running on my machines because I have many expensive resources that I simply don't plan on buying in Logos (for lack

  • Re: Logos Testing Rental Model?

I don't think anyone here was suggesting that they would just return a resource within a month...I believe they were commenting that they could see that some less than honest folks might do that given the pricing level. I think it's a valid point...but certainly would hope that the Holy Spirit would convict such a person to reconsider. I can see this

Yes, with the back to school sale this is approximately $66. I'm ordering today.

  • Re: A product on your wish list is on sale!

Since I have Academic Pricing, nearly everything in my Wish List is red, thus making it difficult to determine if anything is an especially good deal. Would it be safe to assume that Academic Pricing is still a better deal than I'd receive in this sale? It does vary...the Back-to-School Sale has several items that are a better deal than Academic Pricing

  • Re: Logos search on the word Allah

I am not trying to be offensive, but the God of Scripture has said that you shall have no other God but Him. If someone denies the Trinitarian God, that person worships a creation of fallen man....which cannot be inspired by God, but only by sin (i.e. Satan). If you think this is offensive, then you must find all Christian Statements of Faith offensive

  • Re: Logos search on the word Allah
This hits close to home, but here are a few, simple thoughts: Arabic-speaking Christians predate Islam. "Allah" is simply the word for "God" in Arabic. When Christians (who speak Arabic) say "Allah," they are referring to the Trinity. The word "Allah" is used throughout Christian prayer books, liturgies, and other services
Hummmm, have you told Gregory Palamas? He about as thoroughly Orthodox as you can get.
I used lower case "orthodox", not Orthodox. I have not studied the writings of Palamas, but if he indeed agrees with the position that Islam and Christianity worship the same God, then that is a heretical position.

  • Re: Using Resource on External CD

Install Libronix 3.0g and then use it to install the CD. I added the RC Sproul collection a few months ago the same way. http://www.logos.com/support/windows/L3/download http://wiki.logos.com/Installing_Libronix_Books Once installed in 3.0g you sync your library and then the books will be made available in Logos 5. I keep a copy of 3.0g on my desktop

  • Re: Logos search on the word Allah

The concepts of God are vastly different between orthodox Christianity and Islam. That "Allah" is attributed to the God of Abraham in the Quran does not in any way equate the Muslim diety with the true God of Scripture. Cults cry out in the name of God, but in the end Jesus will tell them he never knew them. Remember that Satan loves to use a little

  • Biblical Languages Upgrade

I just upgraded to Platinum yesterday and noticed that I have the option to also upgrade to the Biblical Languages package as well for less than the LSJ costs by itself on sale currently. I actually have most of the package already (except for 21 of the listed resources) but the deal is pretty good since there are 4-5 items that are already in my wish

  • Re: Church licence?

I would think a per seat license at an enterprise level would be a more workable solution than a blanket site license. Logos could put further WAN/LAN and time-based restrictions as well. A blanket site license would be a sieve, but an auditable seat license arrangement at the academic level could greatly benefit Logos. However, I am not privy to their

According to the FAQ, if you already own Logos you will still get access to the "free" resources you don't already have in your existing Logos account.
