Francis: well said. I read your reply via email before you deleted it from the forums. I thought you addressed the Matthew passage well. It's not at all clear to me that it applies to this instance in the way JAL suggests--the original Logos blog post was in a public forum, and my suggestion/complaint was with the company as a whole, not an individual

I completely agree with those who have said it’s the responsibility of the purchaser to wade through whatever marketing. No one has to do anything, we are all adults who can make our own decisions, etc. But that doesn’t let Faithlife of the hook for how they market. It’s not as if they have no control over their messaging. Business or not, “Christian
I do agree with Abram K-J. First I just thought it is "American". And by the way, it does come across as intrusive to non-Americans to the point that they stay away. To be honest, if somebody for the first time gets introduced to Logos and for example watches the "what's new" videos and constantly gets hit by Faithlife's selling
(And what did you expect the less than wealthy to do in the absence of a payment plan? I thought Logos might be theologically helping them study early.)
Um... how about not buy? The "wealthy" who can buy all at once spend less than the "less than wealthy"--whose payment plan costs them more in total.

Denise--not my intention to be below the belt, nor to promote my blog. The full text of what I wrote is below the line on this post, so people can skip the hyperlink and read the content--I just didn't want to start a conversation with tons of text. Is Logos/Faithlife above reproach or something? This is a perfectly good use of the forums. Steve, yes

  • When Bible Software Marketing Crosses a Theological Line

I want to lodge a complaint (and suggestion) with Logos/Faithlife as a company: The post 6 Reasons That Shouldn’t Stop You from Getting Logos 6 (however unintentionally) undermines important values of sufficiency and wise financial stewardship and promotes instead harmful values of materialism and overspending--especially in its reasons #2 and #4. I

It's okay--there will be a next "last time" where you can get 15% off... in March.
I'm sure that it's designed to work that way. It allows you to create lists and then selects items from that last for you to pray each day. You can select the number of items that will appear from your lists per session. The best thing is to play around with it, invest some time inputting items, and see if it works out

Maybe I haven't used it enough, but is there a way to access the prayer items I enter as a series of check marks or items, rather than the guided swipes that PrayerMate does by default?

  • Tracking Prayers Across Multiple Devices?

I'm looking for a good way to track my prayer list using a mobile device (that can also sync with other iOS/OSX devices). Both Accordance and Logos have iOS apps I use a lot, but you can't edit an Accordance User Tool in iOS, and Logos doesn't have anything editable in iOS either, right? OmniFocus would be great, but it doesn't automatically sync as
Indexing databases on the end-user's PCs is wasteful, annoying, and too-easily breakable. Revamp indexing entirely such that all resources come pre-indexed, and individual resource indices are then collated into a master index on the user's computer. I realize this would be a major change - but something's gotta change here

How about a total overhaul of the code that underlies Logos for Mac so it runs more quickly? I.e., not slowly. 5 should have done this, 6 really should have... will 7?

  • Reading through the Greek Psalms in a Year

Fellow Greek-readers: I'm going to be reading through the Greek Psalms in a year, with a group started by someone who was in a Greek Isaiah in a Year group I led two years ago. That Isaiah group was great fun. Please consider joining us! You can get the Göttingen edition of the Psalms and Odes in Logos, as well as the Rahlfs text, etc. The reading starts
