I really like this idea. As someone who is not familiar with this radio program, I would like to know whether this product might be useful for a Latin rite Catholic interested in learning more about Orthodox history and figures at an academic (or at least non-superficial) level.

  • Palamas and Aquinas

Are there any resources in the Logos/Verbum library (or that should be in it) that deal specifically with the contrasts in the theologies and theological approaches of Thomas Aquinas and Gregory Palamas (ideally from an Orthodox perspective)? (NB: I do not want to start a discussion of their works' respective merits.)

Well, so far Verbum keeps telling me that it's not syncing, although it has synced at least once since it began its consistent synchronization errors. So I have it, and I'll keep it, but for now I may just keep using Logos with Verbum set to Yes for the most part.
The Bible-only approach should be the right one.
Says a man who promptly quotes Spurgeon, not the Bible, to prove his point. In any case, it's up to Unix how he wants to assemble his library, and for what purpose(s). The merit of his approach, at the categorical level, is a theological question best left for elsewhere.

Catholic clergy are ordinarily allowed to use electronic versions of the breviary. A very rapidly growing number of them - probably not quite a majority yet - do so some/all of the time, at least in Canada and the USA. Usually clergy use the iBreviary app, which happens to be free these days because it became an overwhelming bestseller years ago, back
