• Re: Reminder: Brill Dictionary Ancient of Greek Shipping Sept 30
I wonder if this Logos edition will include the 2 updates that have already occurred in 2019 according to Brill? Link: https://brill.com/view/db/bdgo?lang=en
Don't know. But they get an electronic ship from Brill, then tag it, etc. So, timing-wise, not likely.

  • Re: We are the temple of God

I think you need to make a modern Christianity brain-shift. We live on 'the Trinity', an attempt to reconcile late-OT theology. Late-2nd Temple, and well into the 2nd century CE, was 'spirits' the dwelled in people (ergo Jesus' success in healing ... serious anti-spirit power). Spirit of Truth. Spirit of Darkness. Barnabas and Hermas were major players

  • Reminder: Brill Dictionary Ancient of Greek Shipping Sept 30

https://www.logos.com/product/168884/the-brill-dictionary-of-ancient-greek I know, I know. You're exhausted with expensive Briill greek reference works. But prepubs save, so. This one's not too pricey ($90). It's supposed to be LSJ's replacement (Larry Hurtado). And Logos went 'all out' ... on the product page, scroll down; they have a series of clickable

  • Re: How many resources is it advisable to download?

It's never been the hardware. I run a mini-1 and it happily handles multigig apps considerable larger than a good size Logos library. And apps with far larger database management. And apps with almost as many books. The issue is (1) the comfort level with bugs at each update, and (2) the server communication/coordination (both unique to FL).

Bam will repeat his helpful warning. And 100 is an advisory, like in the weather. But, as an example, my history database(?) is likely screwed up (another thread tonight). I'll let it continue and take my chances. But Bam would recommend re-install. And re-download. Luckily I only have 3 downloaded. But I'm stubborn. Logos is the only re-install, re

  • Bug: Deleting History Creates Ghosted Items

This isn't important. And I'm not going to re-install. Latest ios on a mini4; latest Logos Bible. Notice history page numbers with no parent resource. Deleted using left-swipes New set of page numbers on next bottom menu click. And ad finitum. I'm guessing the orphans in history are caused by referring to deleted resources in offline mode. In this case

Apparently, it's out of print. And oddly, the happy reviewers are working off of a Kindle version. But the only thing close: https://www.amazon.com/Destruction-Sodom-Scientific-Commentary-ebook/dp/B018R4RN78 I wonder if TSU pulled it?

  • Re: Dear Logos ... a plea for Bible translations

I would place MJ's suggestion considerably in front of more stacks of datasets. First, I wonder who wants those datasets (actual use). And second, from a competitive aspect (mainly Accordance these days), her idea would help Logos considerably. The problem: - Biblical interpretation splits out into doctrine, or do-your-own-digging (original languages
Also, can this info be gotten from a right-click in any translation or must I be in Forbes to ascertain this?
The resource has to have the search field for JEPD. Not just any OT. I think AFAT is the only one in hebrew.

Is there an easy way to color the texts in Logos so that one could know which passages by color fit the JEDP docunmentary hypothesis?
This is something I've been studying recently, and I'd love to see something like this. Perhaps it could be done with a visual filter? Unfortunately I don't know anything

  • Re: JEDP in Logos

One of the older OT's shipped last year (not at my pc) was coded for JEPD. The issue you'd have is 'which one' (it's a theory; the assignments vary), and recognition the coding is at word/phrase level, not verse.

But it's really a fascinating study in language transmission. One of his points is that Ugarit is so close to hebrew, but is VERY limited in sampling. Akkadian
