  • Somewhat conflicting LN#'s for Teleios/Perfect in 1 Cor. 13:10.....

I've had & been using regularly the Louw-Nida for about 5 years now. I've run in to places where one LN listing might say "Compare LN# xxxx for another interpretation." But the overlapping was clearly shown. But when I was defining some of the key words for this week's SS lesson (1 Cor.13:8-13) , I R-clicked on 1 Cor. 13:10 Perfect , (NKJV), clicked

  • Re: Chromecast and Logos 5....

I tried resetting it & it worked. The lag time is a problem. At home, it was only 3-4 seconds. At church it was 7-8. With CC screen casting being experimental, I hope there is big improvement in the near future. I taught adults for 25 years before buying Logos. But Logos is such an excellent teaching tool. And the class really responds to it great.

  • Chromecast and Logos 5....

I'm an adult SS teacher. I've been using Logos 5 in the classroom for about 4 years now. When I heard about the posssibilities of Chromecast (Being able to cast my L5 screen to the monitor), I jumped on it. I tried it out on my home Vizio TV first. It worked very well. Some lag time between what I click on in my laptop & it actually moving on the monitor

  • Sentence Diagraming with OpenText... Romans 8:6....

I have only been sentence diagraming for about a year now. With HS 40 years in the rear view mirror, & no college experience, it doesn't take much to throw me. In the SS class I teach, we are going chapter by chapter Romans through Rev. 5. "What does God specically expect of the church & the individual living fully into the "church age". Before we start

  • Re: Computer shutting down during indexing....

Got off work early....... Thank you all. I had looked at the fins before and didn't seem to be that much dust build up. But after blowing them out real good, I indexed up to 40% like Mark said to, and paused, but it really wasn't very hot at all. Waited, got out one of the summer fans, turned the laptop on its side and the index ran the last 60% without

  • Re: Recent development of odd highlighting problem...

Noel, if you use a 2nd monitor, I have a possible answer. I don't do a great deal of highlighting, but recently I have noticed the same thing. With my set up, it's when I'm shortcut HL'ing to a 2nd monitor. Again, I don't HL except in "spurts", and it usually happens when I'm extremely busy with other things, so haven't followed up on my "theory". Not

  • Re: Are the 3 KJV the same?

I'm weighing in very late on this, as I wasn't around here when this thread originally started. In my another Bible software, I purchased a commentary series from a Baptist pastor named Rod Matoon. In it, I saw something he had that intrigued me. It's quite interesting. I don't submit it as absolute fact, as I have never actually purchased a copy of

  • Re: KJV vs NASB: Missing/Added Phrase???

I have no seminary or college background. My only ability to discuss and use original language studies in the SS classroom comes from the tremendous advances great learned men and developers at Logos have made that allows barely high school educated people like me to peek into these wonderful things. That said, I tried to look at some of the Greek NT

  • Re: KJV vs NASB: Missing/Added Phrase???

The NET does shed a great deal of light on the subject. I've only recentely been discovering the great usefulness of the NET. In it's notes, I saw that Mark 13:32 KJV does contain the phrase " neither the Son". You all probably heard me scream at myself, as I realized, that in my tunnel vision, it never occured to me to that it might be in the other

  • KJV vs NASB: Missing/Added Phrase???

While putting together the SS lesson, I was gathering together (For obvious reasons) a group of scriptures warning us clearly against setting dates. But in doing that, I came across something that I never saw before. In Matt. 24:36, I would have sworn the KJV contained the phrase, NOT THE SON in the verse, ...not the angels of heaven, NOT THE SON but

  • L4 and classroom use...

I'm drawing from the thread by Esther Jones "Wednesday night Bible Study". So I realize this isn't a completely new topic, but I want to try and draw out more specific " Using L4 this way in class has really been useful." Then tell how you set it up and deliver it. While I have only recently started physically using L4 in class, I've found one particular

  • Translation Wheel and PowerPoint 2007....

I was following the thread this week by Nathaniel , about using R-click on an image in L4, and sending it to I believe it was Keynote. I found some answers in that thread, but had some other problems for me. I didn't want to high-jack that thread, so I felt it best to start a new one. I too have had trouble

  • Pre Pub.....

I looked for a while in the archives, but just didn't quite get my questions answered. I purchased the "Learn To Do Word Studies" DVD's. I've never ventured to anything Pre Pub before, and I just don't get the language of how things are progressing. Can someone give me a brief explanation of what these progress bars mean. Or send me to a page with an

  • Re: Mark's video tutorials

I learn so much from all his videos. Of course I learn a great deal on the subject. But on each video he'll be just casually mentioning something else briefly that you can do, And I have an "I had no idea you could do that too with L4." Or a "I wonder if I have that resource." Being relatively new to L4, and knowing no one else personally who owns it

  • Re: How do I search for a pattern across verses?

Thanks John for asking this particular question. Coincidentely, Phil. is the book I've been teaching from, and 2:5-8 is what this week is about. I had the same basic desire to look for matching scriptures patterns. I was hoping my hours of syntax learning would somehow pay off. I made a lot of progress, but I'm still in way over my head there. I knew

Tes, I have been working all afternoon on my collections also. I've been pleasently overwhelmed by my library since getting L4. And after upgrading from leaders to Scholars...... Anyway here is a link I stumbled across in the Wiki. It may not be perfect for what you want, but I am so new to having a library this size, I didn't even know what "type"

  • Re: Another quick unofficial tutorial video: Clippings

Not only do I learn a great deal about the subject of the video, I was able to glean a great work around to a bug with L4 on my particular system from your sermon prep. videos(I think it was sermon prep). Any scaling above 100% with my computer causes it to cut off the right half of the layout screen . So anytime I want to make a new layout, I would
