Bohuslav, thanks for chiming in. I withdraw my concern! Incidentally, Bohuslav, are you Bohemian? And does the "bohu" part of your name mean "God?" If it does, would it be the glory of God? By the way, Randy. It wasn't meant as criticism. I probably had my "Chinese" glasses on when I saw this. You guys are right about their not being a standard English

I guess I have no brain then. I pre-ordered it. Incidentally, I was thinking that as we become more international, we have to watch the way we use language. For many people for whom English is a second language "no-brainer" makes no sense. I hope this is an encouragement to all of us to use more standard English, and less idioms in an international

I'd rather have a Logos digital edition any day than those flimsily made Kindle editions. Granted, I cannot always afford the Logos edition, but it beats anything Amazon or any other company has. I hesitate to call Logos books "e-books." They are much more than that. There will always be those who prefer drinking tap water rather than spring water,

Those answers do help a lot. I think that it's true that if they do not replace my relationship with the Lord, but rather enhance my Bible reading and fellowship with my Savior, they are not idolatry.
-
What do you mean by deriving something that you should be trusting God for?
-
I just want to know your thoughts on this. example: When does a love of theological books become theological book idolatry, etc? -and- When does justification become rationalization?

It's interesting that they mention that it is "of the most popular and welcomed versions of the Bible among worldwide Chinese churches and Christians." Maybe it should read "overseas Chinese" instead. Certainly they don't mean the hundred million or so in the PRC. I don't know anyone who accepts these kinds of new translations. I personally think new

The new cover is really good.

On the community pricing offer , The History of the Franks, there appears to be a Slavic cross. Is this intentional or a mistake?
-
Glad to know that James! Though I am from Kansas, indeed, I also live just a few thousand kilometers to your northeast. In the capital of Cathay. If you're ever about in the area thou canst reach me and we'll eat duck together. Incidentally, have you seen the Community Pricing title about the history of the Kirk of Scotland ?

A hearty Kansas USA greeting to all the Brits on here! Sheesh, most of the people I grew up with were British-American (though I'm Swiss-American myself). When you've lived in a non-English speaking country for many years like I have, feelings do grow fonder for people who at least speak some semblance if the same language as you. Despite the great

Thanks for shedding some light, Unix. I am curious about other cultures, and it seems I am always asking questions about them. I haven't been able to crack the Scandinavian cultures, though Asian cultures actually present less of a problem for me. Strange, since I am a Westerner, our cultures should be more similar. I wish I could help you with your

Interesting. Thanks for the input there, fgh! It's true that Americans make "friends" very easily. Though long term friendships are possible in American culture, my wife has observed that though we appear warm on the outside, there is a certain coldness once you get to know us. Probably the opposite of Swedes. Yes, business must go on, so put on a smiley
-
I am just curious. Is it the common way to make friends in Sweden, to "negotiate" on the possible terms of friendship? This is a fascinating statement.

200 quid? piastres? rupees? Canadian dollars?

I think Hiebert has several books that I want. Let's keep this thread going so someone pays attention. How about the Illustrated Guide to World Religions by Dean Halverson publ. by Bethany House

I'm so HAPPY![ !!

I would love to have the LSJ. I wish I could review it! Well I hope there is a good deal on it.

I am overjoyed that you are doing this, Bob. Thanks! Personally, I think that some people should read Wayne Grudem's book Business for the Glory of God. Grudem has helped me to remove the last vestiges of socialism from my psyche. And believe me, I was a real socialist before I knew Christ as my Savior. There is nothing wrong with seeking a profit.I
