  • Re: Video series on preparing a sermon complete!

Mark, your videos are just superb! As you can see, you have a full second ministry to the Logos forum folk, and their congregations. Thank you! If I might ask, what works do you include in your Bible Backgrounds section? I tried to read the abbreviations from the first video and did a search for the letters on Logos website, but came up empty. And by

  • Re: Managing Visual Filters

Thank you to both Ron and Mark for the helpful responses. I checked out the search suggested. My comment about limitation as to color coding was based on not having any idea that the kind of layering of visual filters described in one of the posts was even possible. I was just unaware of all the possibilities.

  • Managing Visual Filters

I'm working through Dr. Heiser's How to Use Biblical Hebrew in Logos 4 videos. He creates visual filters for nouns, then creates visual filters for verbs with the same color coding. What is the best way to manage these? Does one have to create them each time you want to use them for nouns, then create them again for verbs, etc.? There seems to be some

  • Settings Won't Hold in Copy Bible Verses

I have a custom Copy Bible Verses format for Smart Tags. For some reason I have had to start manually setting that each time I use Logos, because the setting defaults to something else. Is there any way to get the setting to stick?

  • Re: New unofficial tutorial video: Reverse Interlinears

If the Logos officials are paying attention to these videos by Mark and the response to them by L4 users, they should look into contacting Mark about making his videos "Official" rather than "Unofficial." His are the clearest, most concise, easiest to follow, and most helpful of any I've seen. Thank you, Mark!

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

I did find one tiny error I needed to fix for my Smart Tags Replace With Passage. The open quote was not typographic. (Close quote was). So I went in via Tools/Copy Bible Verses and chose the style for Smart Tags I had created and replaced the initial quotation mark with the typographic character (Alt+0147).

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

And Graham helps us once again! Since the actual text formatting does not carry over with Replace with Passage, only other formatting elements, there is a workaround, I believe, Michael. Whatever style I am using in Word is what the text is formatted to when I use Replace With Passage. So, it might be one more step, but if you switch to an italics style

Michael, italics is available in the code listing. You can find it here: http://wiki.logos.com/Copy_Bible_Verses You'll just need to go in as I mentioned to either edit an existing style or create a new one, and play with the italics code. You'll be able to see how the formatting code changes you make actually affect the text. Hope this is adequate

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

Michael, that part is easy enough. Go to Tools/Copy Bible Verses. When that dialogue comes up, then right click on what comes after Copy and a list of pre-designed styles will show you. You can then left click on the title of the style and click Edit. The dialogue will then come up where you can make the changes. I just deleted what I had and copy/pasted

Ah, yes! May the Lord reward you for all your assistance on this. That did it (once Logos fixes the space bug, it's perfect!) I am very grateful--would have never figured that out!!!

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

Once again, many thanks, Graham, for your labors on this issue. I did remove %CopyAllText and that indeed did away with the verse numbers. However, if you notice carefully in what you had set up, it puts an open quote before each verse, and then the mysterious period, space, and close quotation mark. I am very grateful for your help. Apparently the

  • Re: Notes Search

Graham, thanks for your attempts to help. Sorry I did not make clear that I have one large note file. So as you have said, there is no way to really find anything in it.

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

Am using the latest and greatest Logos 4.1 SR3 just released yesterday. Here is what I have set in the formatting for my For Smart Tags copy Bible verses style: %CopyAllText %NoFootnotes %NoCitation =Header [FullPassageRef], "=ForEachVerse [VerseText]" I remember reporting that the close quote leaves a space between the period and quotation mark ages

Thanks for this input, Graham. However, when I open my one large note file and use Ctrl + f, the find box comes up, I type in a word (I know is used repeatedly) but nothing whatever happens. I must not be holding my mouth right today!!

  • Re: Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

Hi Graham, thanks for replying. I'm using the Replace with Passage option, because Copy Bible Verses does absolutely nothing. I assume if using Copy Bible Verses, one would then have to use Ctrl+V to paste the verses into Word. But nothing whatever happens. I almost have the formatting where I want it with Replace with Passage excepting the anomalies

  • Notes Search

Because it is way too cumbersome to have many notes files, I have one large one. When I do a search, it does find references, but there seems no way to actually get to the particular sections or even find specifically where they are. Any thoughts, or am I missing a way to have notes open to the proper place(s)?

  • Smart Tags Formatting - Having a Fit!

Was excited to see Smart Tags available in Logos 4.1 SR3!! But, I'm having a time getting the formatting like I want it. Here is an example of what I'm looking for: Jeremiah 33:3-5, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of

I notice a thread from yesterday asking about a bug in Logos 4.1 SR 1 for Windows. Has this been released? I'm not getting any updates even when I type in Update now.
