  • Question About Method 1 Installing L4 on Multiple Computers

I used Method 1 detailed at http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers to quickly and seamlessly install L4 on a new computer. Everything worked perfectly. The directions indicate setting Automatic Updates to No, but never addresses turning that back on once everything is up and running in a stable condition. May I assume it is

  • Open Office and Smart Tags-

One feature of L3 that I use almost daily is Smart Tags for inserting Scripture text into documents. While we're still waiting and hoping that L4 will eventually utilize Smart Tags, I notice that Open Office now does support Smart Tags. Anyone had success getting L3 to work with Open Office?

  • Way To Print A Page (Chart)

Am using the Beginning Biblical Hebrew book in L4 and was wondering if there is any way to print the chart of the alphabet? Any ideas?

  • Kudos to L4b SR1

Most often we post problems or difficulties, but congrats to the developers on the SR1 release of L4b. I definitely see significant improvement in opening a large note file! Thanks!

  • Re: Imported Notes Crashing L4b

Having the idea to delete the imported Notes files from L4b, then re-import them, I was able to open them using File/Open in New Tab. One of these files is 28 MB and it took several minutes to open, but it did finally open. Mysterious!

Hmm. Wondering if the Logos team knows if the size of a note file is a problem. The imported note file I'm having a problem with is rather sizeable. It worked OK in L3, but it crashes L4b on all the machines I have. This file was made available from someone else. If anyone wants to test it, there are a couple of such files available from www.deanbible

Also tried opening the notes file on a different computer (XP) and the result was the same. The note will appear in a preview box when the mouse is placed over the note indicator box in a verse, but if you try to open it either from that place or from File/Open, L4b crashes and must be closed using Ctrl+Alt+Del. I'm left with little choice but to delete

Here is the second try on the log file.

This is a Windows 7 64-bit laptop with 6 G RAM P7350 2.00mhz The imported files were "fixed" using the downloaded tool before importing into L4b.

  • Imported Notes Crashing L4b

Wonder if anyone else has had the experience of attempting to open an imported notes file, only to have L4b crash and have to be closed. This is with a new Windows 7 machine with plenty of RAM.

  • Re: Perpetual Update Re-indexing

I thought it was a complete indexing because a message appeared across the top of the screen that said First time indexing occuring, or something like that.

  • Perpetual Update Re-indexing

Logos 4 has many wonderful features, but it makes no sense to me why it has to completely re-index (consuming the computer for up to several hours) every time there is an update. Looks like there would be a way to save the index to a file each new update could retrieve, and only index to add new resources. This is an annoying and bothersome thing.

  • Re: L3 Initialization Error

The offending application was Replay Media Catcher. Apparently it was loading into the memory slot L3 uses. This only occurred after a very recent update.

Fred, give Dave Hooten's latest response a try. It worked for me after nothing else did.

  • Re: L3 Initialization Error

A million thanks, Dave! It worked! After trying several applications running msconfig, I scanned through the list and remembered an application that had run an update a few days before the problem with L3 began. Unchecked it, rebooted, and L3 started perfectly! Greatly appreciate the help! Now I'm back in business.

  • Re: L3 Initialization Error

Yes, I have tried uninstalling using PurgeLDLS.bat. That was what was originally suggested via e-mail by tech support. So far none of the many solutions I've tried have worked. I did discover that booting in Safe Mode allowed L3 to start and run perfectly, so perhaps there is a way to diagnose the actual problem that way. I'm just not techno-savvy enough

Appreciate the suggestions; however, I had already visited that site. None of the solutions offered worked. Logos tech did a remote uninstall and reinstall, even though he admitted the error was unfamiliar to him, then suggested the error was due to bad memory. I do appreciate all the time he spent trying!! Ran suggested Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic

  • Re: L3 Initialization Error

Uninstall/reinstall directions from tech support did not solve the problem. Same error message as before. Will post if a fix ever comes about.

  • Re: L3 Initialization Error

Heard back from Logos tech support today with rather complex instructions on fixing this. Anyone having this problem should definitely contact Logos tech support.

  • Quotation Style in Copy Bible Verses Problem

I've discovered the Quotation Style in the Copy Bible Verses tool places a space between the period at the end of the verse and the close quotation mark. I've discovered no way to correct this in the Quotation Style, nor to create a new style with quotation marks that does not have this problem.
