  • Re: Looking at new iMac - i5 or i7 cpu?

Add as much memory as you can afford. The system buffers the disk in unused memory. Initial start and index creation will be faster on SSD, but a large memory system won’t be that much different once running. 8gb minimum but more preferred. I use a 2 year old i7 iMac with 16gb and 1TB fusion drive. It is quite responsive even when I am running

  • Re: D.A. Carson Sermon Archves

I found another issue in the D.A. Carson Media archive. In the (Media) library it looks like "The Triumph and Failure of Reformation" was given the wrong title of "A Child Will Be Born to us". It is located under "Miscellaneous Bible Sermons and Addresses".

  • Re: D.A. Carson Sermon Archves

Logos 7 on my Mac appears to have finished indexing, but when I set the Passage Guide to Gen 1-2, I don't see Carson under "Sermons". However I do see him with other references. "The God Who Is There" should have been tagged with this reference. Is this another bug in the tagging? Genesis 1-2 does work within the quick entry in the title bar for the

  • Re: Mac Vs. PC on Logos 7 - which is better?

I have a fairly high-end iMac and my work provides me with a high-end Windows 10 PC (HP zBook with SSD). WIth the convergence of Microsoft Office and the similarities between both version of Logos they are fairly interchangeable as far as I am concerned. I only tend to choose one vs. the other when I am doing software development I tend to agree that

  • Re: How do you use Logos? How can we improve it?

Having the search prompt you similarly to the way the Visual Filter tool works might help a great deal on removing the search syntax memorization burden.

  • Re: Newer Mac Mini with Logos 6 or 7?

Also, more memory helps with performance. Once you have the amount needed to avoid much swapping (8Gb) anything above that will incrementally assist by caching more of the disk into memory. The improvement from 4Gb to 8Gb is VERY noticeable and what I would consider almost mandatory. Above that ,more memory helps, but decreasingly so. Eric

  • Re: Setting default Bible for Lectionary only.

Note that I have the appropriate resource chosen in the Catholic Daily Readings window, but on the home page sidebar it still chooses the first priority resource (ESV)

  • Setting default Bible for Lectionary only.

For most of my studies I prefer to use the ESV or LEB, but I also like to follow the Catholic Daily Readings (Lectionary) and use the NABRE. I tried prioritizing the NABRE at the top and have it apply only to Catholic Daily Readings but I still get the 2nd item on the list which is currently ESV. What am I missing here? Thanks, Eric

  • Re: How to prioritize multiple book series?

Then, when you get the hang of it you can rt-click the series on your priority list and limit it to certain Bible verse ranges. For example you can have one set of priorities for the Gospels and another set for the Epistles.

  • Re: Logos on my new computer: How long does it take to start up?

I am running comparable(with 2.6Ghz) and it is less than 30 seconds. One thing I noticed can really take up time is how good or bad your network connection is. Also, the load on the Faithlife servers at that time of day can impact the startup time.

  • Re: Hardware Question

The largest impact to performance is lack of memory. With 8Gb you have plenty to run the software as long as you aren't running too many other apps. If you can afford it, a second display is very helpful if you want to have many resources open at the same time. Eric

  • Re: Encyclopedia Britannica Update

For many of us, it was paid for last year. FL has been probably made an estimated $.12 interest on my money while I have been waiting. The release is truly going to be exciting for those of us who have been waiting this long. However, I am still wrestling with the idea that I could be so excited about an encyclopedia. Jeez, what a book nerd.

  • Re: "Text Comparison" interlinear view is very nice -- almost.

Now you describe it that way, it makes sense. You can't do much with out your "base" reference. "This reference" did not stand out as "The first reference" in my mind. Thanks for the assist. Eric

  • "Text Comparison" interlinear view is very nice -- almost.

If there is a resource that does not have the appropriate interlinear data you get a message: "There are no results for this reference. Please try a different reference." 1) There is no way to tell which resource that is causing the problem. 2) Shouldn't it just display the "good" resources and ignore/cross-out the invalid ones? The interlinear view

  • Re: L7 Speed on a Mac

I am running an iMac 27 10.11.6 with 16GB RAM and a fusion disk drive (part SSD, part conventional). It can be slow when updating and/or indexing but normally I can hit the "Go" button on the home page with a topic and all the windows are usually up within a second or two. Make sure that you collapse all the sections on your Topic Guide ahead of time

Layout: Main window on primary display with two panes open (see attached). Secondary window with floating window containing Quickstart for Logos 7. (single pane). I was following the section on "Passage Guide" in the "Quickstart for Logos 7" and noticed that by default my resources were opening on the separate window where I had the video running. No
