  • Personal Commentary Books question

Good morning, everybody, I often gather stuff from the Internet to incorporate into personal books. Sometimes that means I have multiple articles on one passage, and they aren't often in the same place within the starting document. Is there a way to format the book as a commentary and still get it to point to multiple spots in the book? Or would I need

  • Could use book recommendations

Anybody know some really good books that focus on one of these three topics: 1) 1 Peter 2) Hosea 3) Spiritual disciplines I'm doing a sermon series on each of these over the next few months, and good monographs definitely helped out my Lord's Prayer series. Thanks for your insights! Brian

  • Question on updating Personal Books

Good morning, If I update the word doc that is used in a personal book (but do not change the location of that file), do I need to rebuild the book, or will Logos automatically look in the file location and display the changes when I open the book? Not a big thing either way, but if I can avoid rebuilding for small changes, that would save some time

  • Language dictionaries w/ particular info?

Hey everyboody, Does anybody know a Logos Greek or Hebrew dictionary that shares what English words are derived from these original languages. For instance, "PROTOS = first. Where we get our English word 'prototype'." These definitely helped me learn my vocab, and make the information more useful to my congregation. Thanks for your help! Brian

  • Curious how ppl do layouts w/ multiple monitors

Hey everybody, Should be getting my new laptop today w/ 17" display. I also have a 17" CRT sitting around my office (I won't even tell you the specs on the computer the church has in there!). But I was curious how people tend to set up their layouts across two monitors? Any efficient ways to split resources up between the displays? Most of my work is

  • Re: Searching for Scripture as topic

@Keep Smiling - yes, I see what you mean. My first test was specific to my journals collection. When I checked it searching All Library, I saw the uber-list of options. @Jerry - When I came to my church, they actually did that on the church sign - Welcome Pastor Brain. Seems to be more than just a common typing error. :)

  • Re: Searching for Scripture as topic

Thank you both! It looks like in combination, these two ideas will get me to the meaty articles. David, on the Windows version, I didn't see a Title Text to search under, but I did find Heading and Large Text, as Mick pointed out. Maybe Heading is the equivalent on the Windows version.

  • Searching for Scripture as topic

Hey everybody, Is there a way to search (particularly journals) for a passage, where my passage is the topic of the article? For instance, I search for a few verses and I might get 100 results, but they are nothing more than mentioning my passage in passing. I really want to find articles that are heavily built around my passage. Any ideas? Thanks!

Can anybody tell me if Christmas credit can be applied to an already-going payment plan, or does it need to be a new purchase?

  • Re: Duplicating Visual Filters

Thanks, Bradley. That helps a lot. I didn't realize step 1 was filtering the whole Bible. Makes sense then (counter-intuitive as it may be) to NOT add a second step of chopping the results down to the NT or OT. This machine is running 4GB of memory (and 4 GB of readyboost), so even my most intense filters haven't taken more than 8-10 seconds to populate

  • Duplicating Visual Filters

Is there a way to duplicate visual filters, or make copies? For instance, I am making one that has a lot of different markups (precept inductive Bible study markups). When I turn it on, I don't want to wait forever for it to mark up the whole Bible, so I thought I would make two - one for OT and one for NT. But I don't want to redo all the associations

  • Re: Personal Books disappear before I can finish

I've had the same issue. Just been dealing with it for myself, but it does happen enough that I'd think it's not a fluke. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Well, not "glad" but...you know :)

  • Re: Share your experience with Logos on android tablet

I'd probably steer clear of the Pandigital. I have one and while they are cheaper than some of the $300-400 ones, I've had my moments of frustration with them. Logos app does run on it, but unless something has changed, I choose to wait until I can get on my laptop with Logos rather than use the Android app.

  • Re: Low cost way to speed up logos : Solid State Drive

Another thought - might consider a hybrid drive. Similar concept to an SSD, but MUCH more bang for the buck (runs at about 90% the speed of a full SSD). I put a 500 GB Momentus XT in my Mac for $100. It cruises now! Techie note - hybrids are great for non-laptops. They do drain a battery faster than a full SSD, so laptop users have to weigh that out

Excellent! It worked. The problem appeared to be that I didn't put the stuff between brackets as a header (the '."[[@dayofyear..."]]) I'll try to reformat the other files I was having problems with (sermon collections) and see if that does the trick. Thanks for your help, Dave! Blessings, Brian

Dave, I went into my original DOC and pasted the book into notepad to make sure I cleared all the formatting. I pasted back into my DOC and added some headings. In Word, they came up fine. I recompiled the book in Logos (successfully) and then checked the Logos TOC, and there was nothing. I recognize that the PG probably needs these headings, but am

I'll go through the same procedure, with same results, for the Sermon Outlines situation I mentioned in the first post as well.

Hey Dave, 1. Yes, they are in my library and can be read (they're on the right side of screenshot) 2. For this screenshot, I searched for Genesis 2, which I double-checked that Gen 2 is comes directly from the devotional. 3. See attached screenshot. The "For The Love Of God" volumes are greyed out. If I click on them, they will open to the first page
