Hi Lidio, Do you use a Mac, and did you happen to install the El Capitan public beta?

**Editorial remark: I find it absolutely infuriating (insert choice words here) that Logos won't run on a beta OSX, especially since it has in the past. There really is no reason for this (yes, I know there are reasons for it, but none of them are good ones, not least because it leaves customers in the lurch). If Faithlife thinks this is necessary they

Reverting to Yosemite is, in fact, a pain. Here's what I did: • made sure I had a full backup (you all backup, right?) • installed Yosemite on an external drive • booted the computer from that external drive while holding down the Option key, and then booting from Recovery Mode • erased the internal drive using Disk Utility (better have a backup!)

You need to reinstall Yosemite. I posted a warning about El Capitan earlier today, and sent an email to Logos tech support. Unfortunately, tech support read my email as a request for an update, which it was not, rather than a hope that they would send out an email warning Mac users NOT to upgrade to El Capitan at this time.

Steve, you didn't happen to install the El Capital OS X beta, did you? I had no trouble with the first two developer releases of El Capitan, but beta #3, released yesterday, caused Logos to immediately crash at launch. I ended up reloading Yosemite on my Macbook Pro.

  • Apple Users - CAREFUL about installing El Capitan

El Capitan is the latest Mac OS. The public beta was released today. Yesterday the developer version was released, and prevented Logos from starting up. I don't know if the public beta released today is the same as the developer beta released yesterday, but I don't want to find out. I spent several hours last night reloading my system. So, for the time

  • Re: What am I missing?

Hi Dave, Now, that's weird. I copied your search phrase and ran it in the ESV, under Basic, searching Everything, and got back 68 results. It also seems like the number of results varies depending on phrasing, so "resurrection of jesus christ" brings back a different set of results than "jesus' resurrection." I really appreciate Logos - I changed over

  • Re: What am I missing?

Thanks, M.J. To answer your questions, I ran the search on "resurrection of Jesus Christ," per the pop-up when I started typing. I just re-ran the search, using the theme Jesus: Resurrection and Ascension, and got 77 passages - much better! I did take a look at some of the others, but still didn't get the result I expected. Thanks for the response!

  • What am I missing?

There was a tip today from Morris Proctor about searching all the places that an event is referenced. He used the Israelites crossing the Red Sea as an example. Since next Sunday is Easter, I thought that I would do the same thing for the resurrection of Christ. Logos returned FIVE passages in Factbook - FIVE. Doing a cultural concept search in the

  • Why does the Information Panel show Hebrew while hovering over a Greek word?

In the ESV I'm hovering over the word "see" in John 12:19, and the Information Panel is showing me "TO SHUT" from a Hebrew resource.

  • Search for repeating words

I would like to search for words that repeat; for instance, "truly, truly" or "holy holy holy." Of course, if I KNEW all the words that repeat, I would simply search for them one at a time. But, I'd like Logos to tell me WHICH words repeat. So, how do I carry out a search that shows me which words (I'm thinking Hebrew and Greek here, by the way) repeat

Thanks, Dave The notes file is titled "John" The missing references are the verses from John 5:21-25. I've replaced some of the others. Greg

  • Vanishing Attachment Points in notes

I use Notes extensively during my study and prep process. I select a verse reference and create a note, and end up with a note that is "keyed" to that verse. That's the "attachment point." At that point the Bible text shows a little yellow note icon telling me that I have created a note for that spot in the text. Good so far. But, for the second time

  • Note files and Bible versions

I use the Notes feature pretty extensively in my sermon prep. This morning I switched from the NASB panel to the ESV panel, and none of the verses with notes had any little icons next to them. I switched back to the NASB, and the Note indicators were there. I went back to the ESV, and created a note for a verse. When I jumped back to the NASB, there

  • BUG: Display in pop-up error (Bug reporting)

Are bugs supposed to be reported on the forums? If not, then where would I do that? If yes, then here's the bug I found. The word "hallelujah" in Revelation 19:1 only returns Strongs numbers in the popup at the bottom of the panel, and in the right-click information. The full information appears to be present where "hallelujah" appears in Revelation

  • Is it possible to find a certain speaker?

Right clicking on a word brings up the info window, which will indicate who is speaking, when that information is available. Is it possible to search for a specific speaker? That is, is it possible to find every place Jesus speaks, or Peter, or David?

  • Re: Missing "edit box" text

OK, my bad - I forgot that I was running the beta version of Yosemite (OSX 10.10). I booted under Mavericks, and the missing text problem went away. Still, it's a thing for Proclaim's programmers to be looking for . . . Sorry about the mixup . . . we now return you to your regularly scheduled program
