• Re: Newer Christian Aspiring for Ministry (3 years)- What/How Should I Study
Jacob, thanks for sharing your situation. It is easy for all of us to get so caught up with books and life in general that we actually don't get into the Word ourselves. I feel this temptation too. My recommendation is to focus on a book from the Bible. Pour yourself into it using many of the great Logos tools and allow

Notes can be shared through FaithLife. They are called community notes. There is a new site coming together to have all your documents stored and shareable - it's on its way.

  • Re: Manuscripts, Roots and Lemmas?

Michael - are you using a introductory grammar? You may want to try getting a copy of Basics of Biblical Greek by William Mounce. He walks you through the whole noun system and then verbs (an excellent idea even though I learned Indicative Present verbs before all the nouns). In the book, theres a short section on why it's important to learn eimi even

  • Re: Faithlife Study bible owned or subscription?
On something like this, it would be nice if Logos would communicate that clearly rather than having people guess on the forums.
Well, they guaranteed the resources through 2014. I think we have lots of time before we panic :D

This seems like a fair review. I have considered getting these resources but was dissuaded by 2 things: 1. They are very pricey 2. It seems like they mostly just present the things I can learn using the tools already in logos like Passage Guide, Bible word Study and Exegetical Guide.
Because

  • Re: Awesomium Error

I wonder if it's not just a programers way of flagging errors. I worked on a product one time that had someone use the phrase "Oh Hell" as a catchall. When an error would pop up - it would display the aforementioned error. The only problem? This was not an internal product for the company, we sold it to a market. The programer never cleaned up the flagging

  • Re: Logos biggest weakness to me is a lack of good hymnals and psalters with complete texts.

I had to go buy some hymnals for prayer and meditation. I'd love some hymnals (not just the Logos one) for worship and praise... I just realized - I want Logos to be my single point for my Christian life. It's already my study companion, I want it to track my prayers (especially mobile), I want them to add a devotional guide so I can journal and track
Good analysis Dave, it is the Popular Highlights Visual Filter. I bring up BHRG, turn it off, and I can scroll down to the offending area with no problem. I scroll back up, close BHRG, reopen it, turn on Popular Highlights, and scroll down, boom! Crash. I know this is new to 5.0, is it some sort of community visual filter

I was taught a lemma is the word you would likely find in the dictionary. The variations on that word are what is in manuscript. A just to clarify, can a word be based on more than one root? I thought it could but I may be wrong.
Rick answered the question about one word coming from multiple

Hey Nathan! Glad you joined the upgraded version of MAC - I believe you'll love it. First off, there are some files still left out in your user file. They are not really cluttering anything up and, personally, I would leave them. As far as the "Sermon File", it is actually handled by the "Personal Book" tool. It's going to look the exact same as the

Hey Douglas! Depending on your resources - you already have that option! In the passage guides (or any custom guide) if you have the Treasury of Scripture, you will get a cross reference to all Bible passages for the scripture you are researching. I'm not sure about the Apograypha - a Catholic friend would need to help me out here. There is also the

  • Re: Manuscripts, Roots and Lemmas?

Hey Ryan! A Lemma would be the actual word itself as found in the text. So for example, Logous (word in the nominative plural) is called the manuscript. It's what the Bible has. The Lemma for Logous is Logoc (the Lexical form of the word). The root is Log - it's the basic part of the word that gives it it's core meaning. There are other words that use

Hey Tes: Here's an analogy that might be helpful. Let's say you have a book on baseball and it was in Logos. You see the sentence "Joshua hit the ball." You right clicked and looked for all the places for Joshua - the search might look like: root:Joshua. Let's say theres three sentences with in the whole book about Joshua: 1. Joshua hit the ball. 2

Tes: Look at my screen shot, I think it will make it more clear. When you search with the @NASM you only get the instances in the ESV where the noun comes in the accusative case, in the masculine gender, and the single number. When you search without the NASM you get places where the noun appears as multiple cases including the vocative, nominative
