  • Re: So...what would make you buy more books from Logos?

Like many others who responded, I look for resources that are: 1. priced right for me and 2. resources that appeal to me and my studies. I admit to snagging every free resource that I see but many of these are so far down on my reading list that I have not read them. So, again, it has to be resources that are relevant for me.

  • How to do a word search on fasting

Hi, I'm sure the answer is already out there somewhere but I just wanted to ask a question re: a word search through the bible. I am interested in finding out all of the passages that contain reference to fasting. The problem is that the root is "fast" which now scoops in all other references to "fast" which means running fast. How, therefore, would

  • Re: Logos for Self Study Seminary

Thanks everyone for the great responses. I had initially recommended a set of resources but to go the extra mile and google a few of the syllabuses from various schools and then give that out along with the resources is a great idea. As always, much appreciated.

  • Logos for Self Study Seminary

Today the question was posed to me that if someone wanted a fairly equivalent curriculum to studying at a seminary what books would I suggest in Logos? So, of course, I'm putting the question out to those of you who can answer it far better than myself. So, here are the parameters: 1. assume Logos 7 and at least Gold (to give some context on the number

excellent preacher. I used to watch his program all the time and still do watch occasionally on youtube or elsewhere. I would love to have his collection.

  • Re: What strategies do you use for note-taking whilst reading?

Hmm, I agree that highlighters work wonderfully and I've used them for decades myself. However, the problem with highlighting and even taking notes in the margins of a page is that once you finish the book, everything you highlighted is basically now buried. Think about it this way, you finish a good book with lots of great points that you highlighted

Hi Mark, I have the same issue re: retention of material WITHIN Logos. I still haven't found a good, clean and effective method for helping me to retain the books that I have read. However, outside of Logos, in nearly all other parts of my life, I use mindmaps for anything I want to retain. The technique is so awesome because of its simplicity and versatility

  • Re: Logos 7: A Big Disappointment

I understand Daniel's angst completely because I thought the same thing in terms of 'status.' In other words, I thought that there was some type of benefit to having purchased L5 Gold versus L5 Bronze rather than realizing that the benefit is just in the amount of resources contained in each package. And so, when it came time to upgrade to L6 (again

  • Re: First Spin with the Sermon Editor

Aah, ok, I misinterpreted your question. I actually use Dropbox (an online virtual repository) that syncs with all of my devices. So, when I am finished with the sermon I export it to a sermon folder in Dropbox using my laptop. From there, I open up my Galaxy tablet, go to dropbox and open up the sermon. Normally, I export it in word format and so I

  • Re: First Spin with the Sermon Editor

Mark, Thanks for the tip. Next time, I'll just start off with the background that I want so that it can build from there. However, I agree that an 'update all' function would be very helpful. Clint, Totally agree about having a slide build upon the previous points. The only workaround that I see right now is to build your 1st point as H1 and then subsequent

  • Re: Logos 7 not exporting sermon slides...

Mike, I thought the same thing at first when I exported my sermon. I think the issue is that we are used to older versions of Logos where the export function automatically opens up a new Powerpoint. However, this morning when I hit the export button, I had to name/save the new file. Then I went into my explorer folders to the file, clicked on it and

  • First Spin with the Sermon Editor

Well, today I am about to use the sermon editor for the first time in our worship service. So far, I am very impressed with this functionality but I do have one question before I head out the door. I didn't like the default background so I wanted to update it but rather than updating the entire set of slides at once, it seems like I have to update one

Thanks everybody. These tips delivered a few more results than I had earlier. I was thinking that there might be some Morris-level process that I hadn't considered but I'm glad to see that I was on the right track with the NEAR and WITHIN functions. Again, many thanks!
