  • How to Study Polar Opposite Topics Such as Law and Grace

Hi, I'm looking for some tips on how to do a thorough study of law vs. grace. I have used one factbook for the topic grace and another for the topic law and gotten some good results. I have also used the topic search as well as the search functions 'Near' and 'Within 5 words' which also have given me some good results but I am wondering if there is

  • Taking Notes with FSB Online

Hi, I just recently (as of today in fact) started to use the FSB online for some Bible study while at work and on break. I'm sure this question has been asked before but is there a way to add notes or do any clipping in the FSB online version? When I say notes, I mean personal notes to a verse versus community notes. Thanks, Dennis

  • Re: Finding Outlines

Thanks Graham. I thought the Factbook would also get me what I wanted but the Event Navigator is also a great start.

  • Finding Outlines

Quick question: Last night I was asked to provide an outline on the life of Jesus so I did a simple search using "Jesus" AND outline. Eventually I found what I needed but it seemed to be more by chance than by search. What better method is there to do a search of this nature?

  • Re: Forum Favorites Function

Thanks Graham. I knew it was probably already out there somewhere and not a new invention. Well, back to my other idea. Its a machine that has two - four slots in it that you can put bread in and heat up until its toasted. Bet no one has thought up that one yet.

  • Forum Favorites Function

OK, so I am quite sure this is not an original idea and maybe the functionality already exists in the forums. However, wouldn't it be great if you could add a particular post and/or thread to a favorites section linked to your account profile? For example, I was just reading a post about how to search for surveys in the library and there were some excellent

  • Re: Audio Tools for Study or Research?

Thanks Mark. The Read Aloud feature is pretty good and I'm excited to give it a full test run on the way home. In terms of the audio books there are indeed some very good ones but I agree with some of the other comments that this area could use some attention.

  • Audio Tools for Study or Research?

I spend an enormous amount of time commuting to my secular job each day. To be exact, I work 68 miles from my home which has an insane amount of traffic daily so it takes me roughly 2.5 hours each way for a grand total of 5-5.5 hours of commuting. During that time, I listen to everything from Christian radio to the news but today it dawned on me. With

  • Re: Study Time Roller Coaster

I like your idea of studying in batches, Mab. Personally, I find that my best study times are early in the morning when my household is asleep and on Mondays I try to just study or read but not for sermon prep. I try each week to carve out study time that doesn't involve a sermon but just for education and edification. In terms of seasons, I've noticed

  • Study Time Roller Coaster

As the official day of winter is approaching (which just means rain in California), I thought it might be interesting to get people's thoughts on study habits. So, here's the two-part question: 1. what day of the week do you do the LEAST amount of study (my assumption is that since many of us preach and teach on Sunday, we tend to relax a bit on Monday

Hmm, we all have at least three books (movies) we love, three we regret spending money on and we're all hopeful that the money we shouldn't be spending on the next three will be well worth the price? Just a thought

  • Tithes and Offerings Resources??

I'm pretty sure this question must have been asked at some point but what are a few great resources that you would recommend to help educate your members on tithes and offering? I don't want this question to ignite a debate on whether tithes are still relevant today or limited to the OT, but rather, I am looking for some additional tools that I can

  • Which manual do you use for weddings and funerals?

I'm preparing for a funeral service tomorrow and in the past I've always used the Broadman Minister's manual for the service but it occurs to me that there may be other/better resources out there that I haven't discovered. I realize this question may be answered differently depending on denomination but I still think it's worth the asking. In particular

  • Re: How would you do a search for the Holy Ghost in the OT?

Thanks Guys. I agree that it is interesting to see how different tagging methods can produce differing results. I normally only do one type of query for whatever I'm searching but now that both John and Graham have opened up my eyes, it makes me wonder how different other searches would be as well. So, now I'm off to do some digging on other topics

  • How would you do a search for the Holy Ghost in the OT?

Hi, I'm guessing this is a pretty easy search but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it but I'm interested in studying up on occurrences of the Holy Spirit in the OT; either acting in conjunction with the rest of the Godhead or instances where He would come upon people and annoint/empower them for a particular task. Any thoughts? Thanks
