• Re: Bible Background Collection

What's left out that I would want to include are some of my 2nd Temple Judaism and other histories; sociological works (social histories); and historical geographies. But "history" is a pretty "big" word to include in the search string--it could bring in lots of things I don't want. I have great interest in this type of contextual background research

  • Re: Is Beta testing by invitation only?

Thanks for all the input! If I install the Beta now, will I have to do anything extra to get the final 4.0a release, or will it automatically update?

  • Is Beta testing by invitation only?

After watching John Fidel's latest video, I can't wait for the next Logos 4 release--I covet that Beta! But I don't find anything on the logos website about beta testing for Logos 4. Is the current beta available to anyone? If so, would someone please post a link?

  • Re: Selecting only particular collections when making a new passage guide

Inspired by this thread I tried adding a few Collections to My Passage Guide. I am surprised to see that the results I get do not reflect my prioritization of resources, and that the results from individual resources are not grouped together. Are the results perhaps coming from some kind of relevancy algorithm?

I think what you want is under the File menu, New --> Reading Plan.

I've wondered the same thing. It'd be a nice option.

  • Re: Bookmarks

I just discovered the same "feature"--but I'm calling it a bug, because if you are reading along in a book and want to move your existing bookmark, you first have to use the mouse to clear the old one, then switch to the keyboard to set it in the new place. If you don't have anything at all open in the main window except Favorites, you can use the mouse

  • Is there a better way to "update" a Layout . . .

In L3 I used to save an updated workspace by choosing its name from the list (usually it was the default, so I didn't have to choose anything, just answer yes when asked if I want to overwrite). In L4 all I can figure out is to save the current snapshot by typing in the name again (and hoping I don't make a typo so that I end up with two similar named

  • Re: Changing ribbon content

If Oswald Chambers is on your ribbon because of a Reading Plan, I think you can remove it under the file menu --> R-click on title of plan and select "Delete."

  • Re: Prioritizing Frustration

First time through I thought this was a joke! Everyone knows the forum is the place to go for "answers to tough questions"! This feature gives me a lot to think about and tinker with. I don't find the "advanced prioritize" feature documented?

  • Re: A plea for the bibliographic report to be reinstated
Could it include, if possible, a column for "Collections" so that we can see if our resources are all in collections or if some have fallen between the cracks?
I miss this too. I'm not a "rules-based" thinker, and I'd like to be able to check my collections to see if they are what I really want.

  • Program Scaling vs resource scaling and footnote performance -- bug?

When I scale up the text size of an individual resource, the popup footnote windows work just fine. But when I set program scaling through the Program Settings (to 140%), then the footnotes no longer wrap within the popup window and the popup window has no scroll bars to let me see the text that has been cut off (neither up-down or right-left scrolling

  • Inconsistent behavior when opening search hits, notes

Sometimes when I click on a search hit, insteading of zeroing in on the search hit itself, the resulting window will open to the beginning of the article, even if the hit itself is several screens away. The same thing sometimes happens when I click from within my Note file to get to the place it appears in the resource.

  • Inconsistent behavior when copying text with footnotes

When copying text to a word processor, sometimes I get multiple instances of the same pop-up abbreviation as footnotes--e.g., 5 footnotes in a row telling me "v. verse". L3 was very good about stripping out all but the first one. I'm looking forward to the return of this ability.

  • Store typo reports while offline?

I just spent a weekend without Internet but with lots of good study time . I kept finding typos, but being offline, I didn't have the "report typo" function. As a work around I created a Note file for typos, and reported them one-by-one now that I'm back to reality. It would have been nice to have the L3 ability to store typo reports while offline,

Great tips! I love how you moved the right side-bar items into back panels in another tile to create better working space. I've saved a page link to my desktop so I can study the video in detail. I'm thinking I could have one OT layout and one NT layout and use them as templates?

  • Is there a reason to keep the Setup.exe . . .

Is there a reason to keep the Setup.exe if Logos 4 has installed successfully? Love the new and improved guides and tools -- love the "look" -- but I can't yet leave my best friend, Logos 3. I too miss the Topic Browser and the Copy Bible Verses icon, both of which I use often.
