Hi, It was a Logos automatic update. Since it failed, and I can no longer run the program, I do not know what version it was. I use Logos most days, and had used it eariler in the day yestyrday so I assume it was the most recent version that faeled to load. Yes, I have rebooted several times. I am not sure how to use the Windows Event Viewer. Thanks

  • Logos 7 will not launch

Hi, After the recent update I can no longer launch Logos 7. I see the splash screen for a second or two and then nothing else happens. I have tried holding down the control key, but this did not make any difference. I am running on a Windows 10 machine and have no problem launching until now. Help!

  • Printed Greek fonts

Hi, I use Times New Roman as my Greek font, and the Logos keyboard layout. This has been working perfectly for months. On screen the Greek looks correct. However, when I print, the breathing marks appear after the vowel, and the iota subscript is also after the vowel. Text that was copied and pasted from NA27, also displayed in Times New Roman, prints

I have just discovered 'match all word forms' option, so the problem is solved. Sorry to have trouble you!!!

  • Searching

Hi, Please can you help me with a bible search for 'spirits'. Everything I have tried returns results for 'Spirit' and 'spirits'. I have tried spirits, "spirits", spirits -spirit - all return spirit and spirits. Thank you.

  • Re: Missing verse numbers in NRSV. Logos 6

Thanks, Bradley. Yes. I am sure Logos will find the bug. It is not a major problem.

  • Re: Missing verse numbers in NRSV. Logos 6

Hi Graham, Thank you. If I remove the check mark in 'Bible text only' the verse numbers return. In the case of the Psalms the title of the psalm also reappears.

  • [ACK] Missing verse numbers in NRSV. Logos 6

Hi, The verse numbering in Psalms, Proverbs and Isaiah (and possibly all OT books) NRSV starts from 10, the text of verses 1-9 is shown, but no verse numbers. If I display ESV along side it numbers all the verses. Any idea what is going on? John Houseago

  • Re: Word Study - Greek

Thanks again. I think I can see how this works, though I would like to be able to set New Testament as the default search scope and for the lemma search to be on Greek version that is independent of an English translation. I can, of course, open a new search window. I am just lazy!!
Hi, I hope this helps. I think the issue is that the search is including the Apocrypha. The 'graph in the lemma section does not respond to a mouse.
A further thought on the above. If I am right in thinking that the Apocrypha is being used to get to 17 occurrences of hapax I think that shows that Word Study is based

  • Re: Word Study - Greek

Thanks for your reply. I use either the NRSV or ESV. In an essay, though, I need to specify which Greek NT I have used, and I am not sure how the RI version compares to NA27 or 28.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. Yes. I am preparing a sermon on 1 Peter 3:18 (this week's RCL). From the Exegetical Guide I click on the Lemma for the word I am interested in, hapax (ἁπαξ), which opens the Word Study on 'All Passages'. It reports 17 occurrences. If I open Textual Searches the results are NT 14 in 14 verses; LXX 43 in 37 verses; Apostolic

  • Word Study - Greek

Hi, When I open a word study from the Exegetical Guide on a Greek word I am not sure which edition of the Greek NT is being searched. Will the result be correct for NA27? Or is the search done on the Greek component of the reverse interlinear of my preferred bible? If the latter, is the Greek of the interlinear the same as NA27? Secondly, the default

  • Re: Reading Percentage Circle

Thank you, Mark, for this informative response. I have followed the practice, learnt I think from your excellent videos, of having a standard layout for sermon preparation. I automatically open a number of resources, though I may not consult many of them for a particular sermon. Do these count as being read each time? John

  • Re: Reading Percentage Circle

Interesting, but I must disagree. Since Logos does not know what I have read, as opposed to what I have opened, the name 'read percentage circle' is misleading. Whatever else it is measuring Logos is not measuring my reading. Since Logos has not said what is being measured I maintain that the figure is meaningless. What is it a percentage of? I fully

Thanks, Rosie. You are right to say that it is non-intrusive It does not, however, offer any meaningful information and therefore I ought to be able to turn it off!!! .

Hi, It is new in the 6.0b release. It is an optional column in the library, and appears when books in a collection or on the shortcut bar are moused over - but only if that book has been opened. John

  • Reading Percentage Circle

Hi, Is it possible to turn off, or at least hide, the reading percentage circle? This seems to me to be a gimmick. Logos may be able to record how often and how long I have had a resource open. It cannot possibly know if I have read a single word. Many books are surely for reference, not for reading through. John
