I did this search, and was surprised to find that the first prayer as a literary type is in Second Samuel 7. There are certainly prayers in Scripture before that point; is the data set incomplete, or is my installation weird for some reason? FWIW, I am searching All Bible Text in All Passages in the NASB, and the search phrase is: {Section <LiteraryTyping
How about offering a box of chocolates to the first member of the congregation to produce the original sermon from your coded clue sheet?
I like it - it's a variation on "Sermon Note Bingo," where you try to fill in the blanks before the pastor reaches that point.

  • Re: Bug (wish) Web Videos

As an aside, if you use a Mac there is a program called Airy that allows you to download YouTube videos to your computer. That would free you from streaming issues (if your network is down, for instance), and perhaps allow Proclaim to function better.

  • Delete sermon transcription

I tried using the transcription feature for yesterday's sermon (found in the sermon audio page, if you're looking). The results were laughably inaccurate. Editing them into something coherent would require retyping most of the message, and I'm not going to do that. But, I can't find any way to delete the transcription. I see an "Edit" button, but don

  • Re: Is Logos expensive?

Yes. I've invested thousands of dollars into Logos. And no. My print library ran close to 1,000 volumes. For less than I spent in seminary and the first 15 years of pastoral ministry, I have more than 8,000 resources. I also have the ability to gather information in seconds and access original language materials and ancient literature. And, in a few

  • Export Slides Panel

I don't know if Logos 8 has had this issue from the beginning, but the latest beta (8.1.0.0016) doesn't indicate the selection when exporting slides. Logos 7 used radio buttons to indicate the selected Proclaim presentation. Logos DOES properly export to the selected presentation, but the lack of confirmation before clicking "Next" is problematic.
Do you attach the notes to a reference? I.e. When you are reading in your text and come to " John 3:16 " you see a flag which takes you to the note on your commentary. Is that how you are using it? If not, I wonder if a personal book would be better... and if you could keep some of the formatting.
Yes, notes are
This is a known problem. As a work around if you paste the formatted text into OneNote and then copy the text from OneNote and paste it into a Logos Note it retains the formatting.
It's only a partial fix. The color is pasted in with the formatting, but not font choices or sizes. I also tried Apple Pages and

  • Formatting is lost when pasting into Notes?

In Logos 7, I could copy my notes from Word and paste them into Logos, and formatting would be kept. Logos 8 loses that ability. This isn't a minor issue. I use what I call "inline comments" during my initial work on a passage. It allows me to quickly follow the biblical text and also make basic notes. Unfortunately, Logos 8 turns this: into this: Suffice

I apologize - I was trying to be clever. I know about Mahershalalhasbaz and how to use resources. What I’m looking for is a comprehensive list of words that would not typically be found in Microsoft Word or the Mac spelling dictionary, but could be imported to teach the system what they are, rather than giving a great number of red underlines

Thanks, Justin - I never tried to simply delete a selection; I'm glad that works. On the second point I wasn't talking about inserting audio into a sermon, but exporting the sermon, editing in Audacity (which is a great app), and then re-importing it into Proclaim. That would be a great feature.

  • Sermon recording necessities

Proclaim is of tremendous value because of the seamless way it records and uploads audio to SoundFaith. It's really reduced the amount of time necessary to get audio online. But, a couple of tweaks here and there would be of great value. I'm sure these have been brought up before, but here goes. First, we need to be able to trim INSIDE the audio . If

  • This might seem like a strange question . . .

. . . but is there a downloadable spelling dictionary filled with biblical/theological terms? Oddly enough, Maher-Shalal-Hashbaz is not part of my Mac's dictionary. It seems that Logos might be in a perfect position to create a reasonably comprehensive word list that we could import in our spelling system of choice.
