• Re: Grammar: learnt in The Bible for Everyone

Hi Dale, I see what you mean about the inconsistency. I'm wondering if the difference is in the tense of the verb? For example, I would instinctively say "I learn, I learned, I have learnt." Does that pattern match the usage? Colin

Hi Dale, NT Wright is British and this is one of those words which varies in usage depending if you are from USA/UK. I'm sure it looks really odd to you - but it's correct on our side of the pond. Just spare a thought for us poor British English speakers since Logos editions are almost always American ones! Colin

Hi Martin, I have no expertise in this area but I noticed that earlier in the book there is a paragraph about powers which may shed light on your sentence. It seems that lower spiritual powers involve the mind - memory, understanding and imagination, while the higher ones involve the will and perhaps the emotions - love. 'Thus his spiritual combat continued

  • Re: Upgrade discount

Thanks very much Glenn for responding so quickly. One of my reasons for asking is to see if it makes sense for me to buy the biggest library I can afford first. Another reason is that I can't find any figures for the levels of discount on the website. To clarify, are you saying I will always receive a certain level of discount on the basis of my academic

  • Re: Upgrade discount

Hi, Since the discounts don't display separately any more, I don't think I have any way of checking whether or not the 30% discount for connect subscribers stacks on top of the academic discount. It did for Logos 7 and there were multiple threads about it at the time. Could someone tell me if users who receive academic discount also receive a further
Logos has gotten to the point where the core software is powerful enough for most users. I think FaithLife would be well served shifting some development resources from adding new features to rethinking the user interface. Good interface design is a specialty, and can make a real difference in how a program feels.
I think

  • Re: 40 days missing in John 1

Hi Dave, I'm wondering if you've misread John's account a little. John's Gospel does not directly relate the baptism of the Lord Jesus. In John 1:32-34 we read JTB's testimony about the Lord Jesus where JTB recalls what he witnessed when he baptised Jesus. This is clearly an event which took place sometime in the past which John is remembering and referring

Hi Mike, For number 1, that's really helpful - thank you for taking time to show me. On number 2, yes I would want to open lots of commentaries so there would be a significant time-saving/click saving. An 'open all' feature would really help me. Thanks again, Colin.

  • Sermon preparation help with favourite commentaries

Hi everyone, Like many other folks here I'm sure, I use logos for sermon preparation. At the minute I'm doing a series on 1 Thessalonians. I have 2 questions. 1. Using passage guide, I can access all of my Logos commentaries on 1 Thessalonians. That's good for my initial preparation but, as I move through the series, there are some commentaries I don

  • EP Study Commentary - not 35% off when dynamically priced

The EP Study Commentary was eliminated in the first round of March madness and has been discounted to 35% off. I own most of the volumes and my price is 80% off - $72.95. However, when you click on it, and hover over the price, it reveals that this is only the dynamic price - not the dynamic price with a 35% discount. A discounted price is displayed

  • Re: New Pre-Pub pricing policy

That's a very good suggestion Petah. This would give more assurance to customers that we are getting the best deal when we buy at the pre-pub stage, (even if the resource goes on sale later) which was the reason for the pre-pub guarantee in the first place. Colin.

  • Re: Non-contraction Gen 1:1

Hi Theo, I'm afraid you will not get what you want. The other commenters have shown you how to see exactly what is there in the Hebrew text. 1. MJ showed how to display the vowels. English contractions such as the example you noted (isn't) tend to miss out vowels. The Hebrew text was originally consonantal so I guess you could say the text was 'contracted
