  • Re: Linux version of Logos Bible Software

Compared to using a virtual machine in Linux. It would probably work better with less expensive hardware to remote desktop from Linux to a Windows 10 computer running Logos. It takes the same software for a VM and a VM splits up your computer hardware on a single computer.

  • Re: Hebrew New Testament by Delitzsch, Franz, 1813-1890

Essentially, Delitzsch's translation along with the Peshitta (already published by Logos fully formatted) is useful for studying how Jesus may have originally worded his conversations. I've found the pdf format listed in the link at the beginning of the thread to be very difficult to navigate, unlike Logos formatted books. I end up going back to my

Thanks for the answer. I suspected something like this, but wasn't getting a good response from my small touch screen. After you confirmed the actually method, I kept trying until it worked.

I've been trying to find out how to turn off the second panel in Vyrso and haven't found it yet.

Here's my son's response. He is an avid Linux user who is working on a Ph.D. in computer engineering. Here is a list of what is provided by that library some of which would need to be implemented in wine for Logos to work: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms753307(v=vs.110).aspx

Working on Wine to get Logos Bible Software to run in Wine in Linux would probably be the shortest path. If someone got LBS to work on Wine and set it up in PlayOnLinux, it would automatically do the setup. But, to get it to work would probably take some Wine development.

From Bob's previous feedback about Linux, he knows what it would take to put Logos on Linux. The reason Logos hasn't put Logos Bible Software on Linux is Logos doesn't think the Linux market is sufficient to justify the cost to put Logos on Linux..

I'm running the Logos app and Vyrso app on an Android phone. Both allow you to read Logos books, but they don't have the full functionality of Logos/Libronix running on Windows or Mac. I haven't tried to run the Android version on Linux, but apparently it runs on Chrome OS with Arc Welder from what others are saying.

The Cloud is ideal for Chromebooks, but many Linux users are in countries where the internet speed isn't that good. Needing access to the Cloud also may limit one's mobility if not having internet access at any location. Of course, internet access is essential for Chromebooks.

I think all Logos would need to disclose is what Logos needs running in Windows for the program to work. That may not need non-disclosure agreements.

Bob, What might be worth the investment is to see if you can get someone to tweak Wine enough to get the Windows version of Logos 6 to run on Linux. Wine appears to have missing dependencies necessary for Logos 6 to install and run. Perry Webb

Linux Mint is similar to Kubuntu (KDE on Ubuntu). These are all Debian based Linux. Running on Mint, I haven't been able to get Logos 6 to install on Wine (including trying to install with PlayOnLinux) much less getting Logos 6 to run on Wine. I've tried Windows 7 and Windows 8 mode.

Linux users are reporting that the web-based Microsoft Office version runs on Linux. So, web-based Logos should work.
