  • Logos Prevents OS X from shutting down

Hi all! I've been having an issue since I moved over to the Mac 7 months ago and I thought I'd reach out for some advice. This happened with Lion that came with the machine and now Mountain Lion on a fresh install that I just did. Whenever I go to shut down or restart the computer and Logos is running, I always get the message that Logos prevented the

  • Re: New Ipad

I was just scanning this thread, sorry if this has been answered and I missed it. Is Logos going to be officially supporting the retina display in how they render text soon? Does it already do that? I think Logos is the last app I use regularly that I need to get confirmation that it will or has been upgraded to take advantage of that amazing resolution

  • "Clean" reading view? (No footnotes, maybe even no verse numbers?)

Hi all! I'm embarking on a challenge with my friend to read through the whole Bible in 90 days. It's a pretty fast clip, but it's beena real blessing! I've been largely using the iPad app to do this, because I also want to compare some different translations while I do it (our church body is currently trying to figure out what to use for its publications

  • Re: Shorten Logos program name in Menu Bar?

Is there no way for the end-user to do this at all? I'm not above editing configuration files, etc. Unless, of course, that name in the menu bar is hardcoded and compiled into the program.

  • Shorten Logos program name in Menu Bar?

Hi all! Got my Mac last week and am loving it. Still a lot to learn, but it's going well. And man, does Logos FLY on a Solid State Drive! Just a quick question. I have the 13" MacBook Pro, so screen real estate (both in size and resolution) are very precious when I'm not at my office on my big external monitor. Is there a way I can shorted Logos' name

  • Re: Switching from Windows to Mac

All these suggestions and thoughts are great everyone, thank you! :) I'm going with the 13" because of price considerations and because I use an external 21" monitor at the office, and the laptop screen becomes a secondary place to toss things. Usually, for my sermon text studies and such, I have Logos open on my main screen and OneNote open on the

  • Re: Switching from Windows to Mac

Thanks for the thoughts! I'll be going with the base model 13" Pro, but buying my own 8GB RAM upgrade. It's nice to know that a big program like Logos won't need to run in a virtual machine. I hope to get an SSD down the road, but they're a little too pricey for me right now (and hey, after a year or so using the machine as is, the upgrade will be that

  • Re: Switching from Windows to Mac

Ah, thanks for the link! Doesn't look like there would be too much that I use regularly that isn't present or isn't at least coming soon. I found a thread on this while searching before, but I can't find it now, and most of the posts were about a year old anyway. On Windows I can hit CTRL-ALT-B system wide to open the Copy Bible Verses window (as long

  • Switching from Windows to Mac

Hi all! I think in the next week or two, I will be buying a 13" MacBook Pro and giving it a try. I had wanted to take the plunge several years ago, but only having a Windows version of Logos (at that time) made the jump seem a little pointless. If I would only be using the Mac to run Windows apps, why switch? Now that Logos seems rather robust and mature

  • Re: HCSB Study Bible

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but I'd like to second (or 12th?) this request. I've started to use the HCSB for my devotional reading and I'd like to have an electronic access in Logos to their study notes. I actually went to the store just now to purchase it and was surprised to see it not listed!

  • Re: Lenski's NT Commentaries

Lenski is generally pretty solid. His Romans commentary is a little suspect as he slips into intuitu fidei problems, but otherwise it's a useful set.

  • Re: NIV 2010

That would be great! Aside from a few issues here and there, the translation work in the new NIV seems pretty good (not wild about them changing the sonship, inheritance picture in their sweeping inclusive language in Galatians 3). But, I would like to keep the 1984 edition around for reference too.

  • Re: NIV 2010

Given that Biblica is completely doing away with the 1984 NIV, if we have that in our Logos libraries, we still get to keep it right? Despite the fact that the revision replaces the old one?

  • Re: Indexer Crashing on Windows 7 64bit, Logos 4.0d

Alright, fixed! Ran a System File Check ("sfc /scannow" in a command prompt box) and it found corrupted files and fixed them. I went to start BITS again and it worked just fine. Logos is currently downloading its updates. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Mark! Maybe sometime this post will help someone else with troubles they're having

Ah, Mark, thanks for the edit suggestion. Went to that and it cannot start the service. Tells me: Windows could not start the BITS service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specificed module could not be found. Awesome. This seems bad.

Hrm, it would appear not. It last installed updates on 9/8/2010, but when I try to manually click through to install them, it doesn't install any of the 7 updates Windows Update knows about. Oh good... formatting party this weekend? :P

  • Indexer Crashing on Windows 7 64bit, Logos 4.0d

Hi everyone, I'm not sure what happened yesterday, but my Logos has been trying to update and run an index on the library at the boot of the computer and also when I start Logos up. Both times, Windows tells me the indexer and stopped responding and must be closed. When I start Logos, it's always bringing up the "Preparing your Library" splash screen

  • Re: Buy or Wait ?

Awesome! Now that the Mac version of Logos is more than viable, I may have to add Apple's products into my consideration the next time I need to do some hardware refreshing.

Quick question, If you own Logos 4 for Windows, is there any charge to use the Mac version?
