I built the index from scratch. Have noticed no heat problems, but I have so far mostly used it on a small table with the Type 2 keyboard, except for reading a few hours. But if there is a heat problem, I haven't found it.
But there is no compromise. Logos runs quicker and better on my Surface Pro than it ran in my i7 processor laptop, which also had 8 GB of ram. Searches are fast. Language tools work fine. And it is a joy to read from - even Personal Books.
Did you build the index from scratch or copy it from your laptop? I'm curious
The indexing process causes my brand new Dell laptop to become virtually useless for other tasks. The cursor stops moving for seconds at a time rendering mouse usage unbelievably frustrating. I can't even type without things abruptly pausing for several seconds. It makes using my computer quite painful.
Does the new Windows
Honest question: if I already have modern versions of those things, does Schaff-Herzog have anything to offer me?
Steve Runge wrote about the value of older commentaries and I think his argument has merit for old encyclopedias as well, albeit, to a lesser degree: "In a previous post I mentioned the value of older commentaries

  • Re: Computer comparison for running Logos
Will it run the program faster too? I have heard the more GHz you have the better it will run the program, but the more cores (like you said) will index faster.
Another way to look at the reason for a quad core, is that Logos frequently runs the library indexing process in the background which is very demanding

  • Re: Limited HDD space - can indexing be cancelled?

You can free disk space by removing all but the most recent restore point. Can you temporarily uninstall some applications? These steps may free up enough space for indexing.

    - Interesting posts, guys.
it is a pretty safe bet that the Logos requirements are outdated.
The Direct X 10 recommendation is old. However, the Video section was added to the Logos requirements page months after the Intel HD Graphics 4000 was commonly available, so Logos was aware of the capability of the 4000 when formulating
Are there particular volumes you are considering?
The UBS and NIGTC volumes come to mind. Logos released a few UBS volumes today and that got me to thinking about this purchasing strategy. I let the order go through, because in posing my question, I pretty much talked myself out of waiting, at least for these works

  • Purchasing Strategy

In the past, a Logos recommended purchasing strategy was to hold off purchasing new volumes in a series that was part of the base package (e.g. commentaries), because Logos may include them for a very small price as part of a future version of that base package. My recollection is that this strategy was advantageous from L3 to L4, but not from L4 to

I bid on this collection as soon as it became available - and just now raised my bid to $60 to reflect the increased the size of the collection. The progress chart (after a ~ year) looks pathetic, even after an appearance in the Logos Blog in June. I suggest that Logos send an email to all bidders of this collection advising/reminding that the collection
