  • Re: Quick resource question

You can sort of do that, Rick. If you click on the visual filter and select "links to open panels" in HALOT, when you are at a biblical reference IF HALOT contains a reference to that passage it will highlight the passage so you will quickly be able to see what definition your passage is under. Ps 12.2 does not appear to be referenced in HALOT for יש

  • Re: setting up a layout with links

Hi Jim: I'm assuming that you are scrolling in your A linked resources. Mark's suggestion is the easiest workaround, just don't link the Exegetical Guide to your A Bibles. It's not that hard to retype a new passage into the EG and run a new guide on a new passage. The only other alternative is to have 3 sets of Bibles with the 3rd set of Greek and English

The Logos Wiki page has a section on slow performance. I'm sure it will help to follow their suggestions, if for no other reason then they might be able to help you troubleshoot it with the screenshots and logs they request. http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Slow_Performance John

  • Hot Tip: Not Highly Rated Collection (Thanks Mark Barnes)

How do you rule out your lesser rated theologies, lexicons, commentaries, etc. when you are studying your passage so you only get hits from the resources you use all the time? Mark Barnes is glad you asked. I just want to point you to his Advanced Collections video. http://www.4-14.org.uk/logos/tutorial-videos#vimeo-8145864 Don't worry if you don't

Jonathan Burke has some possible suggestions at this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/17978/135354.aspx#135354 I'd put my money on a corrupt index. John

  • Re: How do I change the default layout?

At the bottom left side of the Home page click on "customize" then deselect "Open home page at startup." If memory serves the last layout that you were working on will open next time you start the software.

If you want to be inundated with data just click on Search | Basic Search | make sure you are searching your entire library and then type in Augustine. That should keep you busy for awhile.

  • Re: Training

Search me. They talk about Accordance vs. Logos on the forums so I don't see why a training product would be a problem, but then I don't work for Logos. I've been to Morris Proctor seminars and have some of his guides and they are great. I've also used some stuff put out by John Falahee, who used to work at Logos and it's good too.

Same here. Perhaps a really interesting title now and then, but nothing like I used to, and the ones I have, I'm slowly getting rid of. It's the way the world is going.

Here's an example of my 1 Peter notebook with Circus Ponies "Notebook". The advantage over anything else I've worked with is the speed with which one can make and manipulate cells of data; the tab system; the automatic indexing of text, search capabilities, etc. It's just much more powerful than anything else (with no offense to Logos, a specialized

Did you try deleting your preferences file? You can read through how to do it in this section of the forum http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24368/181537.aspx#181537 I had a somewhat similar problem as you and deleted my preferencemanager.db and then restarted Logos and it worked great.

  • Re: Installing on a second computer

If you have access to the internet, install the basic program and let "the cloud" do the rest. It will download all your resources and then index everything automatically. It takes a while but you don't have to be sitting at the computer pushing in DVD's and clicking "yes" and "next" etc. Does everything automatically and auto syncs between computers

Did you send a request to Mr. Proctor? He updates the manuals with PDF additions so it is possible. I'm not sure why he wouldn't want to do this, but since I already have the manuals I haven't requested it.

  • Re: Do layout shortcuts work in Mac?

There IS a workaround if you can run Logos on the Windows side. I couldn't add a shortcut layout or Google Chrome to my shortcut bar on the Mac side. I've been running Windows via Fusion up until now, so I started that up, added a layout and Google Chrome to the shortcut bar, stopped Fusion and restarted Logos on the Mac side. Voila! Both were there

  • Re: Surely this isn't how the Table of Contents in TDNT is supposed to work?

Well, if it's any consolation, I got the same results as you. If there is any way to change the highlighting I don't know of it. I suspect it will have to be done by Logos. I imagine they will improve stuff like this as time goes by, but I'm guessing it's not yet a high priority. You CAN send a note to suggest@logos.com requesting a change.
