• Re: Logos Now and Faithlife Connect: The Why
I've been thinking about what other model would work for both FL and the customers, and I understand the need and desire to go towards a subscription model. I think you can successfully do this with just tweaking and reprioritising what you already have.
The problem with all this, and this goes for Logos' implementation
so give me an example. L8 would cost...???
I don't know. That's ups to the needs of Logos to ultimately determine. But for me the sweet spot is $75-$150 or so, depending on the feature set and how the upgrade makes my life easier.
They can’t do that b cause they spent 15 years saying (or at least strongly implying) that the software was free, you just pay for the books. Many people who’ve invested hundreds or thousands of dollars would be horrified if they had to pay for software upgrades to keep using Logos when the ‘old‘ version

  • Re: Logos Now and Faithlife Connect: The Why

Here's my "street cred" for Logos: Since 2004, spent $23K on resources and upgrades. Here's my take on things: I hate all software subscription models, and prefer owning the software. Aside from not seeing the value in Logos Now, and being highly confused about the benefits, I never subscribed. I have no intention of subscribing to anything new in the

  • Re: Suggestion please - classic reading list

The Great Books Reader by John Mark Reynolds would be a good one to work through. It'll include all the Christian classics across the last two thousand years, along with a multitude from the Western Canon too. I have it in Logos so its somewhere on the website. The Great Books of the Western World set, which is also available in Logos, would be a phenomenal

I wouldn't bother with either. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is sufficient enough. It's not our job to decide which doctrines are true.

  • Suggestion: Less is More Regarding Line Numbers

Dear Logos, Any chance all these numbers can be removed from the resource? Or at least parred down a bit? In the books themselves they only show up every fifth line. This is from the 3rd volume of Great Books of the Western World.

  • Re: PBBs: PDF to Docx conversion - Is there a better way?

Here's a short reply for some big programs. But if you have a mac, consider DevonThink Pro Office. Best way to describe it is Logos Bible Software for everything else. Its not refined for Bible's, of course, but acts as a content management system for any sort of information you want to throw at it. Its got an iOS app too for syncing. But like Logos

There's absolutely no reason why this shouldn't be The Complete Works of Charles Dickens.

So following the link I posted above, I put together the first year's worth of reading from the Great Books series and the Gateway to the Great Books set. I was going to directly upload the files here, but it seems I can't do that anymore? Either way, I'll post links to my Onedrive account so anyone can get them if they want them. I'll include both

Oh cool! I'm going to be starting this effort too come tomorrow. I put in to join the group. What reading schedule are ya'll planning to use? I've got this one here that I'm going to follow: https://westerntradition.wordpress.com/great-books-project/ Its a seven year plan to read both the Great Books and the Gateway to the Great books set.

Whyndall, I Have FineReader 12 Pro at home and I'll try to convert it later tonight and see how it comes out. Could that be a trial "feature" perhaps? With that said, I absolutely love the program. I use it to digitize thousands of pages of scanned books, and its OCR ability is heads and shoulders above Adobe Acrobat's. Great program.
I'm reading through an archaeology book and it mentions Herodotus' The histories in several spots. I tried searching logos for it but I only found this. Does logos carry that book? It seems like they should
Its also in the Great Books of the Western World set, which is worth the price. https://www.logos.com/product/55052

Without too much work its not too difficult to convert books to PDF. If Logos ever when under, that's what I would do.
