Yes, this is a bug: our software is normalizing Hebrew (changing the order of the combining marks) before display, arriving at combinations that the tables in the font were not designed to render properly. I've had a ticket in with development on this for some time. Thanks for reporting this.

Well...never mind! After a long pause (about 20 minutes) of leaving the program open, it suddenly started download 6.27 GB of updates! Hehe. I would say that my library is on the way.

  • Logos 5 not downloading resources

I recently replaced my primary hard drive in my Windows desktop computer (installed an SSD--love it!). As part of this process, I've had to reinstall all of my applications. I've reached the point of reinstalling Logos 5. I downloaded the latest Windows installer from Logos.com. I ran the installer and everything seemed normal. When the installation

What version of the Android OS are you running? If memory serves me right, 4.2 was the first release to start working with Open Type layout tables for complex scripts like Hebrew.

  • Re: AFPMA Syntax Search

The order of the clause initial constituents matters in the search you constructed, so it won't find Gen 31:53 because you're asking for the verb CIC to occur before the subject. You might try putting both CICs in an unordered group inside the clause. I haven't tried reconstructing your query, but I think that will work.

When reporting typos in tagged Bibles, you have to make sure 'selection' is selected in the context menu. If you were on 'lemma' for instance, you wouldn't see the option. This isn't exactly a typo. In the BHS SESB source files, all the kethiv forms are left unpointed, but there were supplemental files that provided additional information on many, but

[quote user="Rob"] The program curiously spells some words rather than pronounces them at times. Dr. Buth felt very strongly that people shouldn't be learning forms that are not real words, in essence internalizing gibberish. For example, if

  • Re: Hebrew Audio shipping on Monday! WOOT!!!

Hello, David. On the first instance of 'years' in 2 Chronicles 25:1, notice that there are two lemmas on that English word ('son' and 'year'), and you get different audio depending on which lemma you select. It's part of an idiom "the son of twenty and five years" that the ESV renders 'twenty five years old'.

  • Re: Hebrew Audio Pronunciation: *This* is how the Tetragrammaton is pronounced?

I don't want to put words in Dr. Buth's mouth, but I think the issue had less to do with risking offence as it did the fact that we don't KNOW how to vocalize the Tetragrammaton. 'Yahweh' is one popular scholarly reconstruction, but there are no vowels for the kethiv in the text, just vowels that mark the perpetual qere of 'Adonai'. I don't think having

Hi, Rosie. I agree with the point about the lemma tab defaulting to the first - there are lots of times when I find that extra click to select the lemma I really want a bit of a bother. In the meantime, note that you can launch a Bible Word Study off the lemma tab and then have access to the little speaker icon to hear the lemma over and over with a

Two issues, both to do with holem-waw: 1) I found (and fixed) a bug in some older code that left a few holem-waws in the 'old' encoding order (U+05B9, U+05D5) instead of the current standard (U+05D5, U+05B9). The affected words would display fine either way, but if one were running a [match vowels] search, or any broader [match] category that includes

  • Re: Searching for יַעֲק֑וֹב (Jacob)

Lots of words in the Hebrew Bible can be spelled with a holem or with a holem-vav. One isn't more right than the other (despite one of the names for the short form being 'defective', as opposed to 'plene [full]'). It can be a bit arbitrary which form is used as the lexical form (the first form in a dictionary), but in the case of Jacob, as you noticed
